| | | What are the best things about Zürich?
Hello all
I have two questions to you living in Zürich
For those of you that are native Swiss and from Zürich, what are the things you are most proud of about your home city?
For those of you that are not Swiss but living in Zürich, what are the things you like most about the city? My apologies if this is answered somewhere else.... |

As someone who lives in Basel, I can tell you that the best thing about Zürich is the Autobahn you use to leave it. | | The following 2 users would like to thank JamesAG for this useful post:

The lake is nice... or at least it is on the rare occasion when the weather is nice enough to allow one to enjoy it.

The lake is awesome (although there's no real beach, whatever people tell you!) ... the public transport works really well ... heaps of stuff for kids and families (zoo, museums, lots of open public parks in which to run around madly!) ... lots of variety across the whole city (including 'outlying' cities, which are still part of th Zurich transport network) ... you can get great farm-made British cheese (and some ales, fudges, & scones) ...

Standing on the Lindenhof, looking down at the Niederdorf as the sun sets...
Going in to the Masoala hall on a cold day...
Sitting in the roof tub in Hürliman wellness, overlooking Zurich...
Driving a segway through the city...
Helping mothers to get their buggy on to the tram...
Going to museums, galleries, the zoo, theaters, cinemas
and so on...

Zurich is a great city compared to many in Europe, but there is one feature that I really like - the airport is only 15 minutes away from the city centre. Amazingly convenient for weekend breaks around Europe.
And considering I live in St.Gallen, I really like the fact that Zurich airport is on the St.Gallen side of Zurich .... | | The following 2 users would like to thank Jazz for this useful post:

Zurich certainly can have its charm. I particularly like downtown Zurich around Christmas, when it feels so cozy. I don't really like living there though. Too noisy. And I like trees. |

As cities go, it's bigger than I would like, but not too much so.
Personally, I prefer Strasbourg.
Lugano's a happy medium.
And there's no German crap here.

In my opinion, Zurich has everything, but nothing is on the top. I am currently wandering around the city, and try to get the feeling to move here on September. Couldnt find something so impressive, however I could find nothing I dislike. It looks like anywhere, which is the reason I decided to move.

They're all too busy trying to look fashionable or... banking, I guess.
I'd kill to just see some drunk guy running down the street wearing nothing but moonboots someday.

I absolutely love everything about the city Zürich!
I find it to give me many opportunities, it is not big, but it is big enough to live " big city life". It has perfect public transport, it has perfect night-life, it offers perfect shopping opportunities - for poor people and for (too) rich people. It has really great view, houses look really nice (like everywhere in switzerland!). I mean, I have not traveled so much, and I am young. But compare to Estonia, the capital city Tallinn, Zürich offers much more and people are more happy here! I am more happy here
But of course, how many people we have in the world, that many different opinions there are!
