General house supplies - not food - shops in Zurich

Hi,

I've just moved to Zurich and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of where you can buy just general homeware stuff - I'm looking for proper pillows (not these large square cushions that pass for pillows on the continent somehow ) and a bedside lamp, but just for future reference general "B&Q" (for the UK folk on here) style shops would be great.

Obviously, the relatively less extortionate the better , but I've no aversion to paying the going rate.

Thanks,

Peter

What's a proper pillow? They have pillows of various sized both rectangular and square at the Manor. They were having quite good sales on them. You might get lucky and they are still going on.

I don't know where to get lamps in Zurich, but I just bought 2 bases at Ikea CHF7.95, plus 2 lamp shades on sale for CHF0.95. Yes, you heard me right, 95cents, each.

I reckon Jumbo is about the closest equivalent to B&Q.

For cheapish homeware, I find La Redoute pretty good. You can order Oxford pillowcases (those rectangular ones), lamps, throws, eiderdowns, etc online. Also useful for all the clothing basics. Major plus point is they deliver and have always got some kind of sale going on. 60% off currently. Just be careful with clothing as they use French sizing (they share all equivalents on the site, though).
No complaints with quality and I don't have to go to a shop. Result!
