Does anyone in Switzerland happen to know anyone who does laser cutting of wood or uses CDC...I am designing something and need to find someone who is able to do the laser cutting for my piece of art. Thanks!

You can try Fablab in Luzern, I just noticed it's new opening hours, much better, it used to only open on afternoons, I might actually be able to visit.

AFAIK you only pay for materials, but any new wonderful inventions you develop with the use of the lab have to be shared, you should be alright for your own art pieces.

On the fablab homepage for switzerland, it looks like they'll be coming to other cities too.

I hope it works out...Do you know if they may be able to blow up a drawing of the piece of art i am making to cut out of wood...i have to have it perfectly cut, but will need a blown up version probably to the actual size of the needed pieces..i am so excited...will let you know if this works out! I should think so, I would have thought the only limitation would be the size of the machine, scaling a line drawing would be simple.

I have never done this before so I dont know alot about scaling a line drawing...is that something I could do at fablab? I sure hope so..i am very anxious to get this started so hopefully it works!

TBH, I don't know the exact details, it's something I want to try as well, but I would have thought being able to scan a drawing and arranging it for the machine would be one of the most basic functions. If you can't actually do it there, they should be able to tell you how to convert a line drawing into whatever format is required, it's not a complex task.

If its a pen and paper line drawing you'll need to scan it and use that as a template to create a vectored eps or PDF. I use illustrator for that but I guess correl draw can do this too.

Cyrus, so I finally have the drawing in an adobe program and ready for the cut! I have connected with Fablab..and their machine is small and can only laser cut 4mm max. I need a much larger machine for this project. Any other suggestions...as I'm looking for another place. Thanks!
