Fuel Price [compared to neighbouring countries]

Hi,

I will move to Zürich by March, and among many other questions, I am wondering what is the amount paid per liter of fuel in the city? As I plan to make some come backs in my home country, I would like to assess what it will cost me to make the travel by car.

Thanks a lot!

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

I'd be interested too as the prices in the UK have skyrocketed in recent weeks.

Unleaded : 102.9p (2.35 CHF)
Diesel :107.9p (2.47 CHF)

If this madness doesn't end soon I might be forced into a Smart car

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

I have paid betwen CHF 1.92 (Schaffhausen) and CHF 2.04 (St. Gallen) for diesel in the last month - in Zurich the average has been CHF 1.96

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

Typically diesel is cheaper in France and petrol cheaper here.

http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/fuel/index.html should put this one to bed.

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

It would be nice to post some of the lowest price we ever got in our area. I've personally found the petrol station near the shopping center in Rumlang (few km away from the Zurich airport) to be the cheapest. 1.75 CHF/lt for unleaded last time, but I remember it was somewhat 1.69...

Try this site. You enter in your postcode (or a few if you travel around) and it will e-mail you daily the cheapest reported fuel in the UK. I've got it as low as 99.9 today in St Albans. There may be a similar site over here?

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

I think it is about 1.81 for 95 octane fuel in Zug. I was astonished that just 15km away in Schwyz it is about 10 raps a litre cheaper. I truly thought that the petrol station I saw was having a promotion, then I noticed it on the rest were charging the same. Just goes to show how different cantons do have different prices (and how living in two different countries with fixed petrol prices tends to make you stop looking at the price)

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

I'm sceptical it'll come down much this winter. Prices will come down a bit, as they've been strongly cyclical lately and there seems to be more oil on the way from KSA currently. A lot of it depends on what OPEC decide on 5th Dec - if they announce that "the market is well supplied" and other rubbish like they have in previous times, then we could see oil above $100/barrel and petroleum prices would follow it upwards. If they announce an increase in production, the market will likely relax a little.

But expect prices >$100 next year for sure. In the bigger picture, it's up all the way from here

This is a non-paid commercial, but Migrol or Ruedi-Rüssel gas stations tend to be about the lowest players. I paid haven't paid over CHF 1.80 in the past couple of weeks in the Winterthur area.

I refuelled at our local private garage for 1.69 for 95 in Nesselnbach. Even when ours is higher I am amazed at what people are paying in Zurich and even 2 villages away.... scary the power that oil has .....

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

My old man said he paid chf 1.73/liter in Neuhausen last week.

Here in Schleitheim there are two stations about 200m from the border to Germany which sell fuel for 1.85 chf. Most of their business comes from germans crossing the border from Stühlingen to buy cheaper fuel.

In Stühlingen, fuel is 2.40 chf / liter (1.45 euro) - they are saving nearly 30% by driving into ch.

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

Anyone noticed prices seem to have gone up recently? I was always paying about 1.69 at our local Agrola - it's now 1.80. In ZH the other day all stations were around the 1.80 mark.

Ruedi-Rüssel has taken over a tiny one-pump station in Flums and are selling 95 octane for 1.70. With our gas guzzler that's a saving of over 7 francs a fill - twice a week gives me 60 francs extra in my pocket at the end of the month.

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

I'm so glad I own a small car (VW Lupo), it averages 6 liters per 100km..! It kills me to see the pump go over 40.- chf. when I fill up but then a smile returns to my face when I see the Jeep Wrangler at the next pump topping up at 140.- chf..!!! and I know he's not driving much farther than I am on that same fill-up.
Sure I wouldn't mind cruising down the road in a big powerful vehicle but at a 140.- chf or more for a fill-up...?!?! No F^çking way...!!!!

Re: Fuel Price in Zürich

We paid 1.59 on 2/28. It's one of the great perks for working at the local Water/Gas/ Electric companies. Haven't paid outside world prices for gas in ages
