Irish Band in Zurich

Hi Guys

I play guitar and I was playing some Whiskey in the Jar and other classics last night with a friend and thought it might be good craic to put together a little band and perform in some of the irish bars around zurich?

Anybody interested? I play guitar and can do some singing. Another guitar, violin, pipes etc. would be very awesome. I am thinking of songs along the lines of:
the orange and the green
spancill hill
whiskey in the jar
irish rover

Lot's of dubliners and wolfetones stuff would be fun. I would set up a website and contact the bars if anyone would be interested!

Cheers
Max

Hi Max,

did you ever find any interested musicians? I might be interested, but more so in amping up or modernising some of the old traditional Irish tunes.

Yes, I have some friends who play along some time. I'm sure I could convince them to commit a bit more though.
I generally play electric guitar so me playing Irish songs will natuarally be a little different

Hi Max!
Are you still looking for musicians? I am actually playing Bodhran and I would interested to play sometimes with other musicians!

Re: Irish Band in Zurich

Hi I sing in a band in Lausanne but work in Zurich during the week.
Really interested to make some noise whilst I'm up here.

Current stuff we do Dropkick Murphys, Runjacks, Flogging Mlly (love Flogging Molly) and some trad stuff just sped up with electric.

[PM me for a link] for an idea of the stuff

Cheers
Tom

Hurray, someone else who even knows what sean-nůs is!

At the risk of hijacking this thread, what sort of stuff do you sing/listen to? Know anyone else here who does?

I know there used to be (possibly still are) some sean-nůs singing classes in ZŁrich. I went a few times but everyone else there seemed to be actual trained singers. I dearly enjoyed the singing but I couldn't follow all the technical discussion which seemed to occupy more and more of the evening, and so eventually I stopped going.
