Oh, I had just the opposite experience watching that (shoddy) movie..... was waiting outside for it to start when I see my ex-fiancée sitting at a café right next to the cinema.... this was still in the prolonged mourning period and didn't do my self esteem any good

Re: Basel Love Stories - Inspire the Newly Single

Hi spellbound - I went through a massive breakup just as I turned 30. Couldn't believe it at the time.....it's now a decade later & as I type I'm listening to my youngest (of 3) daughter breathing in the cot beside our bed.

If I met 30 year old me - I'd say : relax, not only will it be ok but the best is yet to come.

Chin up & virtual hug

It can happen at 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70...

After the hurt is healed, and it will, every time, it is the opportunity for a new beginning.

Re: Basel Love Stories - Inspire the Newly Single

At 30 I was convinced that I would end up an old maid with a house full of cats. At 32 I was engaged to a man who had been there, right under my nose. I think it was when he turned up at my work place with a single red rose that my eyes were opened!
We have been married for almost twenty years, don't worry Spellbound, he could be very close, you just haven't spotted him yet.

Re: Basel Love Stories - Inspire the Newly Single

Mine didn't happen in Basel or even this side of the world, but it is what bought me here. I was about 33 when I met him, had been single a year after being in a 5 year relationship.

I met my man while on holiday in Rarotonga 2009, in the South Pacific. I was there for a friends wedding and he was on holiday by himself.

It was the evening after the wedding, and we were having drinks around the pool and he came back from a Pub Crawl around the Island. I asked him did he want to join us for a drink, it was about 2am in the morning, and I was in my leopard print PJs hehehe. He joined us, we chatted until the wee hours.............we exchanged email addresses, as he was heading home the next day.

We exchanged a few emails over the next few months, then I didn't hear from him for a while until I got an email out of the blue asking me what was I doing that New Years eve and did I want to go back to Raro for a two week date

I was single, so the answer was a yes, and luckily we hit it off and ever since then we have been together. We did long distance for a year and a half, and then I moved here last July from NZ to start my new life.

So holiday romances can work out and be a way to meet someone, when you least expect it

And enjoy your time being single, it gives you a good opportunity to shop around and see whats out there

I met my man on EF. It started 6 years ago when I sold him some bookshelves and just over 2 years ago after 4 years of bumping into him on various events, he pounced on me in the cinema on what I now realise he took to be a "date".
I told him those roofies would work wonders .

Re: Basel Love Stories - Inspire the Newly Single

Maybe it is just me, but the day I got me reallllly single was up there among the happiest days in my life.
Silly, no grunt stupid me got into a relationship very soon after I split with walnut woman (spent a lot of time on a sun bed) this relationship went nuclear sometime in 1999, Slammer has been a happy single camper ever since the burnt earth tactics that that love left.

I split up with my boyfriend yesterday. Hopeful stories of finding new love In Basel would be appreciated right now. I'm 30 and a lot of my friendship group is linked to him.
i wish you a lot of luck... i cannot give you a story of love as I am single, but do just wish you the best... i think it really depends on how long you have lived here, how integrated you are with the area... not all friends in the world are his, which is good news for you

now, where is that in-search-of thread??????

Thanks for the kindness.

What is an "in search of" thread? I'm presuming a thread to seek a partner? I'm not sure I've ever seen any threads like that on here.

You have to lure me with more fancy lines than that - at least tell me you have your own teeth and hair

I think pets are great companions. I'm more of a dog person, and I also adore big cats.

I'm hopeful about new love. I like romance, and am optimistic about something beautiful happening.

When did you become single? Do you go on dates?

Wow. Your smile is dazzling. How long have you been single for? What's the rest ofyour romancing story? I'm not sure there's anything lecture-worthy, but I'll prepare for combat, just in case.
