Any other avid gamers out there?

Okay, I must admit that I'm a big gamer. But the games I like are probably kidstuff to some of you.

I love Nintendo above all.

I own Nintendo 3DS and Wii. I wish to own the new Wii U soon.

My favorite games are Mario Kart and all other Mario games and of course, other Nintendo games.

What about you? I hope I can meet others gamers here too.

Cheers,
itendarjuan

Over a year into it, and still Skyrimming happily! Need to get Dawnguard still though. Arkam City, Mass Effect 3, Borderlands 2 and FarCry 3 in the cue if I ever get out of Skyrim.

Re: Any other avid gamers out there?

I'm playing Fallout 3, with Legends: 007 and Assassin's Creed 3 on tap. My all-time favorite is Red Dead Redemption.

I can't drive in video games, so I stay away from Mario Kart. After a friend's 6-yr-old beat me, I gave up trying.

Re: Any other avid gamers out there?

Resuscitating some new life into this thread...

Any gamers amongst us a-board?
If so:

- What platform(s) do you use?
- What kinda of game-genres do you like most?
- What game-genres can you absolutely not stand?
- What games are you currently playing?

And to start with, here's my answers to those questions:

- What platform(s) do you use? Nintendo 3DS, WiiU, PC, iOS (iPhone & iPad)
- What kinda of game genre do you like most? Indie, Platform, Adventures, Exploring/Emotional, Puzzles and (MMO)RPGames
- What game-genres can you absolutely not stand? Sports, Racing (apart from Mario Kart) and Idiotic Shooter/Fighting Games without any stories (apart from Smash Brothers lol)
- What games are you currently playing?

On the WiiU: Super Mario 3D Land, Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker HD, Lego Marvel Superheroes
On the 3DS: Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Pokémon
On the PC: Path Of Exile, PEZ, Going Home
On iOS: KAMI, Glyph Quest, Pixel People, Tiny Thief

Your turn!

I've heard that too - although, some friends comments have already proven that you can really only win later in game if you purchase items that cost real money. Shame really. Ruins it all...

If I decide to purchase a game in the Apple Store, I usually check for the "In-App Purchase" option, that's usually ringing the alarm bells! Although I've paid some in-game money for "Pixel People", I wouldn't do it again.

I guess the next big game people are looking forward to is the Elder Scrolls Online - although, I've never played Skyrim. Somehow this whole "Dragon Age Neanderthal"-game concept doesn't appeal much to me.

If you want to make me happy, designers and developers would create an MMORPG version/world of Pokémon and/or The Sims. I love the online get-together interactive and cosmetic game worlds

Re: Any other avid gamers out there?

Long-time PC and now PS3/PS4 gamer. Also had a Wii for a while, but it bricked and we weren't using it anyway.
Favourite game genre? On the PC; FPS, Space Sims and MMORPGs, currently playing BF4 and dip into LoTRO now and again. I've had a WoW sub for many years and have cancelled and reactivated it numerous times ; it's currently deactivated, but might be resurrected with Warlords of Draenor (updated player models looks interesting). Eagerly awaiting Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous.
On consoles I prefer action/adventure-type games such as the AC series, Batman, Uncharted etc. I also spent a long time in Skyrim, one of my all-time favourites. Excited to see what the PS4 has to offer; Tomb Raider Definitive Edition is on order and Watch Dogs is on my radar, along with Alien: Isolation. Might pick up Elder Scrolls Online as well (or on PC, undecided as yet). Played a couple of CoD games on the PS3, but I suck at MP (I'm not too hot on the PC either).
Games genres I hate? Fighting games and most sports games; tried FIFA12 on the PS3, played it twice, hated it so sold it. Dabbled with some RTS games in the past, but not really my thing. Never really tried any driving games, but might have a look at Driveclub or GT6 on the PS4.

1. PC
2. RPG, Action, Adventure
3. I don't know about absolutely can't stand, but I can't bring myself to play First Person anything. I like to see the character. Also Japanese RPGs.
4. Haven't been playing much lately.. but I am a fan of any Tell-tale, Naughty Dog, and Bioware games (although they have been disappointing lately).

What on earth is the "epic mount"? It sounds like a new chapter in the Austin Powers franchise!
I never played WoW, simply because I fear I'll get too addicted and won't ever find the time to STOP playing...

Re: Any other avid gamers out there?

Here´s one to raise the eye brows...

I still play CODUO multiplayer. I love the simplicity and not being lucky sniped by some noob (I am a sprayer) 1km away.

Most of the players are regulars so the action is great and almost always funny. I enjoy being an admin of the club based in UK(not hard to guess which club). Specking players, keeping the language on a good level and policing the no zooking foot soldiers rule is my thing.

Just up-graded my son´s PC to a AMD 6300 with all the rest matching it so have bought a cheap copy of CODMW4. It´s ok but I heard there are better options. My son, a swissy plays BF3 and shakes his head watching me play "that old mans game". He is an incredible player. Almost always he tops the list on the small CODMW4 maps. I played 1 on 1 with him and got creamed. "how do you do that" I say and he just snifs at me and walks away.

But most of all I enjoy playing because it has taught me to relax under pressure. Ive learnt many things about myself playing.

I better stop now....

How is BF4 going? Is it buggy or has it been sorted?

My son´s saving for it and raves about it but I would rather have a second opinion from someone who I can trust... enough ()

Appreciate your views on this.

Which PC chess game would you recommend for my son? He is a beginner and needs to learn all the set moves first. Should I consider having a instructor teach him of are the programs good enough?

Kind regards...

It's a personal thing, but in my opinion, I believe that a classic game like "Chess" should be taught from one person to another. It's a fond memory of my granddad how he carefully taught me the detailled functionality of each figurine, where on the board they stand, how the game ticks and you have to think while playing it, and of eventually of course: the first moves with them...

Re: Any other avid gamers out there?

Here's some more..

- What platform(s) do you use?
Currently PS3 (PS4 to come soon), used to have PC, PS2, every now and then the WII
- What kinda of game-genres do you like most?
Well, I absolutely loved Click&Point adventures, so any old LucasArts games (still these days..!), currently more into FPS and Strategy/Resource games as well as survival/horror of late
- What game-genres can you absolutely not stand?
Sportsgames (there's a perfectly good footballfield outside), The Sims, any singleplayer games that require to be connected online or where I have to pay additional money to advance
- What games are you currently playing?
PS3: BF4 (hope the game will improve soon, last game with so many freezes was Dead Island), GTA V, The Last of Us, about to start Don't Starve (big recommendation for that one!), looking forward to the big Battlefield maps on the PS4

Hope that standalone PS4 will be available in stores soon!

Funnily enough, I've not played much since the PS4 arrived, but I really like BF4 (a 780 GTX, Quad-core processor and plenty of RAM helps ). Yes, it has a few odd bugs; inaccessible servers, disconnects, dodgy netcode, odd hitboxes etc, but the maps and gameplay are excellent. I bought a gamepad to become a decent pilot, but I still can't fly very well .

Sorry can´t help you there. When I was young I decided to become a pilot. On hour number 7 I almost crashed the aeroplane taking off so I decided it was not for me The instructor just managed to avoid the cones on the side of the runway...
