| | | Re: Handmade organic soap from Weggis | Quote: | | | | | How is organic soap different to normal soap? How is it made please? | | | | | soaps are made by saponification .... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saponification
get a bucket of fat or oil and get it to the right temp and put in lye, (red devil) is what my sisters use... then it turns to a good glycerin packed soap leaving the skin nice and smooth.
Organic soap, used organic fats or oils. What are Organic fats and oils... let's see what The Google tells us. ..... http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/so...ngredients.asp
"Organic essential oils are obtained from plants that have not been chemically treated, and the soil is usually certified to be chemical free for a certain number of years. Many oils are organic by nature (conifer oils for instance), however, they may not be backed by certification. This does not mean the oil is poor quality. It simply means that the producer did not have the oil certified as organic."

Thank you, it sounds really environmentally friendly.
Instead of using a dead cow, you grind up vegetation to release the oils then bring it round the world, so you can make soap and wash your hands.

I know you can't get things in Switzerland... that's why I said lye and then just mentioned Red Devil so it can trigger the memories of those who lived in the US

I just meant you can't get lye at the supermarket. You can get it. Just have to find a drogerie.

They work, technically
The links in the OP are not accurate ( one leads to FB ).
The website itself is pretty much static ( only an image and email link works - perhaps work in progress or my browser has an issue ).
Here are the corrected URLs: http://www.weggis.net/ General website about Weggis http://rigiseifen.ch/ - static image

Weggis also makes Starbucks coffee machines.
And celebrates Swiss music once a year.
And has a Rose Queen.
And has the quickest way to get up to Rigi Kaltbad.
It used to have a "Dancing" but nobody ever visited it.

Nothing happens in my post code....
PS, I did mean to say, it doesn't have to be your own town. Some interesting fact about a town like Oly wrote.

| | | Re: Handmade organic soap from Weggis Ganz genau "olygirl". The company that makes machines for Starbucks are called THERMOPLAN AG and dear good friends;and sadly have had a hiring freeze for some time. THERMOPLAN AG You also forgot to mention that Wäggis,(as we all say),is very famous for their cute little song every Swiss person is raised up;and knows by heart: Tschüßly zämeee & Happy blessed Holidays vo de Dale. | |
