Anyone else had a census arrive in the post?
We got one today, first one ever, and hubby has lived here for almost 14 years, me 6.

Got it first time in 7 odd years. In my wife's name.
She's a homemaker, so not sure how to answer all work related questions.
Sample question : how do you travel to work
Answer : I just wake up

Re: Swiss Census

According to the article above, only about 5% of the population are asked to fill in a census. Lucky us!

Maybe we should buy a lottery ticket this week .

Re: Swiss Census

I got it, too. They are asking a random sample of 3% of the population, based on the inhabitants' registry (even more reason to play the lottery, I guess :-)). If you receive it, participation is obligatory.

as it is stated, most of the counting is done by using the municipal and cantonal registers. Some census sheets are sent on a random basis

I got one two years ago and my wife got one yesterday.

It seems like a lot of foreigners got it. Very suspicious.

The registry offices may have some doubts Most CH citizens got the last census sheets in 1970 and 1980

I haven't checked yet to see how long we've got to fill it in and send it back, but I would guess you'll have to master German pdq!

Edit.. Just checked, you've got two weeks!

Maybe some kind person with good German could translate the questions to English?

Re: Swiss Census

You can fill it out online. There, you also find the English version. The address is in the cover letter that came with the survey.
