| | | Coffee machine recommendations
Considering getting a coffee machine and wondered if anyone could recommend one?
My requirements:
I don't want a capsule one or anything Nestlé/nespresso-related.
Nothing with a 'pod' system either.
Something quite small which takes either beans or grains, not hard to maintain, does such a one exist?
Edit just found a related post.... And reading through that.

Delonghi makes a good line of automatic espresso machines using grounds or beans

We have this Solis machine and love it--you can use coffee pads (equivalent to a tea bag) or freshly ground beans. | | This user would like to thank Megsandbacon for this useful post:

I bought this 6 months ago (not from Amazon; much cheaper from NettoShop.ch) and love it. I didn't want one which also ground beans as they move the coffee around inside the machine and (a) cost loads more and (b) involve complex cleaning rituals and opportunities for breakdown. Just buy a separate grinder. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Delonghi-EC8.../dp/B004J18S46 | | This user would like to thank adrianlondon for this useful post:

+3 for the Jura. We have a nice small one that sits on the counter in our tiny flat. Makes regular coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato (spelling apologies!) and has hot water spout to make a quick cup of tea. LOVE it. | | This user would like to thank 3Wishes for this useful post:

Dimensions 17.5L x 9W x 12.7H inches
We don't find cleaning to be a problem. Dump and rinse the tray every few days. Run the tablet cleaning cycle about every 5 weeks. Run the de-calc cycle quarterly. Easy and it has more than paid for itself with the amount of coffee we drink.
Edit for clarity - the milk for milky drinks is not contained in the machine. You put it in a separate container and connect a tube (see the little black spot on the left side of the spout). Beans go in the top, and water is in the back in a removeable container.

Have someone prepare it for you?
Get a machine with a timer on it?

I recently bought a Bosch TCA 5309(available in FUST.ch) and am very happy with it. I wanted Solis as listed here, but if I understand correctly, this is an espresso machine. My wife prefers a regular coffee and did not accept it
However the TCA 5309 is great if you want a full-automatic without this whole "milk infrastructure"

My father-in-law has a Krups similar to the EA 8320 (don't know the exact model, but it was ~500 euro). It's bean-to-cup and has some automatic cleaning features. I'm picky about my coffee and I generally don't like espresso machines, but I was pleasantly surprised - even impressed - by this one.
