Kittens wanted

We just lost our cat, sadly. She was ill. The vet could find nothing. The cat refused to eat and she then simply disappeared, some say, to pass away in peace. My son is heartbroken and misses her very much. I´ve promised him he can have a new cat in the spring. Does anyone know where there may be two kittens ?He want stow, so they won´t be lonely.

Re: Kittens wanted

When I was a kid, my parents did a quick replacement of my floating goldfish, but I'm not sure the same is a good idea for any pet with character and personality.

A period of grieving and mourning for a pet is a gentle way of preparing children for when granny and grandpa/aunt and uncle/mum and dad shuffle off this mortal coil.

Incidentally, I did see someone trying to teach their kittens to swim, the other day ........ but honestly, they were really inept - they couldn't even find their way out of the sack, let alone swim.

Sorry about your cat.
Our cat will probably have 4-5 kittens in the spring. She is black so the kittens usually come either completely black or with a little bit of white on the face and paws. If you are interested I could send you a few photos of the last year kittens and/or reserve a couple of kittens for you.
I live in Baselland.

Please look into the animal rescues and places like tierdatenbank.ch.
Check out the links in post #2 of this thread for info on adopting kittens: www.englishforum.ch/pet-corner/165769-want-adopt-kitten.html
Thanks for getting 2 kitties so that they'll have each other to play with.

Your post gives the impression that your cat has yearly litters....
I wouldn't be surprised if I get a groan for this - but please get your cat spayed.

Re: Kittens wanted

Why let your cat get pregnant every year Leonie - when there are so many waiting for good homes???? (posts crossed GJ).

Will this spring be the third time? May I ask what the need is to let her get pregnant again before spaying?

Why do people keep having babies? There are so many homeless kids needing good homes, why not adopt or look into foster care?

Stop having your own babies, there are millions starving needing good homes.

This is my daughter's cat, and she does not agree to spay her yet.

Re: Kittens wanted

Posted by Leonie Spring 2011.

A male kitten is looking for a new home from the beginning of July (with a possibility for him to go outside). The kitten was born in our house on the 2nd of May.
The price is SFr 200.00.

Several were offered for sale since, a nice little earner, it seems.

I can see your point here. But I've never sold any of my kids (my cats neither btw). My purpose should be clear without having to say any more on the subject.

Re: Kittens wanted

I rarely do this - check back old posts. But I did remember our 'discussion' at the time, and your surprise and apparent dismay at the vast numbers of kittens and cats in refuges needing good homes. I checked in case my memory was playing tricks - and found that it wasn't. I am asking others to check that what I'm saying is true, before groaning.

So about 1000 chuffs + per litter - not bad. When you pay for a kitten in a refuge, it is to pay general running costs for all the animals.

Re: Kittens wanted

But don't you have to pay on the order of 200 chf when you get a cat/kitten from the recue center, or whatever it is called, to cover all the shots, etc? Maybe this is the same here?

We still have this cat not spayed, and probably have kittens at least once more.

Apologies, I am still a bit lost.

So someone is not allowed to sell kittens because they express surprise and dismay at the amount of abandoned ones?

Please quote or refer us to the thread where she throws them on the street or has them live in squalor?
