Re: Thermal bath Zurich

Spacious, elegant, quiet and relaxing... You can take a lift upstairs and sort of swim on the roof watching Zurich from above, chill out after sauna or bathing with a glass of wine or have a bit to eat while wearing your robe. I have never seen families with children there so it is quiet. if you want to have a massage, it has to be booked in advance but I'm not sure how much notice they need and I don't know the quality of the massages there but I never heard people complaining so I guess it must be rather good. Enjoy

Definitely worth a visit! I have been once and will go again. Take your own towel though or hire one as you go in. You'll get a bit cold going back to reception in your togs otherwise. Can get busy but not too squashed. If you opt for the Irish-Roman spa, be warned that the changing room in unisex. The steam rooms and pools all require swimsuits though.

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

Definately worth it, if you spend a few hours there!

Go on a clear day so you can appreciate the amazing view over Zurich from the rooftop pool/jacuzzi

It is a really nice place to relax and enjoy. Thermal baths are good, but once we go, we take the whole package incl. saunas.
Best thing to do in Zurich when you have a raining weekend.

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

love the place always bring visitors there. But the last time I took 3 people there the roof top pool-water was too cool to stay outside. When I informed the front staff they just hunched their shoulders and made a excuse that it must was too cold outside to keep the water warm. I have been there when it was colder and the water was warm enough to stay. I will not bring people there again until it gets warmer it is just too high a cost/risk. If they would have offered that we come back again that week or something I would given a try but the roof pool with the view is why I bring people there versus baden, rheinfelden, ect

I've been a few times, mostly when I've given a friend a voucher for a gift. I really enjoy the massages. Tuesday is woman only so don't go then.

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

It's rather a shame if children aren't welcome there, though of course I do understand that would definitely affect the atmosphere. My 18 month old loves the thermalbad in Schinznach. We were hoping to soon checkout the Zurich one, but I guess we'll refrain if kids aren't really welcome there.

Where does it say they aren't welcome? They even state the prices for children here:
http://www.thermalbad-zuerich.ch/index.asp?kat=preise

Eintritt Thermalbad für Kinder 1 bis 6 Jahre gratis von 7 bis 14 Jahren 16 CHF
Kids 1 till 6 years free, 7 till 14: 16 CHF

Make sure the kid stays a little quiet however so everyone can enjoy a relaxing bath

Thanks. I guess I just assumed their was a difference between kids being allowed and kids being welcomed. Lol. I often get "looks" when we take him to restaurants here (even when he's just being a normal toddler), so I'm always hesitant to take him places that aren't really kid-friendly. But I've been dying to check that place out, so we just might take him anyways.

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

I went there today. Just took the normal entry-32 Franks. I dont mind to pay 32 Franks-but it's typical Zürich-pay alot and get nothing. One bath on the roof and one on the 1'st floor plus an inhospitable and cold lounge/restaurant. And 10 franks just for a towel and robe. Otherwise I enjoyed the baths especially on the roof-relaxing.

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

I wouldn't take kids there as it is a place that echoes a lot and people are there to relax - kids tend to find echoes super fun and make even more noise because of it. Hell if you are trying relax, totally ruined my experience of the Thermalbad Vals, my nerves were more fraught after than before. There isn't really anywhere for a kid to play and run in the Zurich baths either.

To be honest, I'm glad if some places remain kid-free because there are already quite a few that I avoid because they have become some kind of badly behaved kid daycare place, chiefly restaurant Hiltl, I was there twice in the past months and twice there were dreadful children and matching parents there. Anyone for watching SpongeBob on your iPad WITHOUT headphones and the sound on? Or for throwing a screaming tantrum because the kid can't have MY dessert? I'm sure CarrieF's little one is not like this and some children don't go bonkers, so it really depends.

I dont get that. The brat wanted your dessert? And you said no? Where were the parents? Looking at their "little angel making friends"

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

the roof top pool is lovely, the views are stunning, and worth the visit alone

my wife stumbled across a couple having sex in one of the showers but there are now cameras installed in every nook and cranny so this problem may now be resolved

the water tends to have a slightly higher chlorine content than other spas

the entry fee is on the high side

the cafe is very nice with a good selection of non standard food and drinks

it can get very busy so avoid peak times, if you can

it has the look and feel of a private spa even though its open to all

Re: Thermal bath Zurich

I found the cafe an inhospitable plasticky cold place with nothing whatsoever to do with relaxing from the warm bath. For the money you get nothing. And 10 franks for a bath robe and towel. What a joke!
