Buying from Zalando

Why is it that one does not have to pay import duties when one buys from Zalando Germany. I bought some clothing from a company in England and the Swiss import duties were SO high.

You just jinxed yourself. You can now expect to pay Zoll fees on everything you buy

Re: Buying from Zalando

Actually that should have read Zalando Switzerland. One cannot buy from Zalando Germany ( with a swiss address). Since the Euro lost its value compared to Swiss franc I have the feeling that the prices on Zalando ch have gone up alot. Amazon has really good prices compared to Zalando. For an item that Zalando 35 CHF wanted I got the same item on Amazon at 15 CHF. Crazy.

Re: Buying from Zalando

No import duties for Zalando.ch and you'll get your stuff really quickly. I'm happy with their service.

Usually you do pay duties on things you buy from Amazon. If purchased from Amazon (and not a third part merchant), they take the local VAT off and add Swiss duty without the hefty "let's see how much you owe us" fee. If shipping is reasonable, which it often is, it is cheaper than if bought in the UK! (or France or wherever else in Europe). Nice.
