Re: Weather!

If anyone has pics of snow on the Alps, please post some. We would love to see them.

We are sitting at 39° today and it's only Spring. Can't wait to get there and out of this heat.

I think you'll need to be a bit more patient for real snow in the Alps.

Re: Weather!

Gorgepus autumn day again- so colourful and bright.

Last night we had a group of 80+ international absinthe fans from all over thw world for dinner in a restaurant with a brilliant view from the terrasse- and it was the only drizzly rain in absolute ages. Ah well- they loved it anyhow.

Re: Weather!

Lovely sunny day here just like yesterday and the day before and the day before that.
It tipped it down all night though which was good for the garden. I can live with that.
At least the rain will wash the cow muck off the streets as the cows parade past.

Re: Weather!

Yep, countryside definitely needed some rain- so it might as well fall at night. it was just unfortunate for that big international gathering last night.

Will be going out on a wild mushroom foray on Tuesday- there was little on Thursday as it was just too dry. A bit of rain will make them hopefully sprout like ... mushrooms.

Is it an euphemism for alcoholics?

Re: Weather!

hihi- some indeed do like their drink- and are distillers and bartender, someliers all over the world. Most are fascinated with the history of absinthe and are true specialists- who work hard at teaching how to drink good absinthe properly (none of that Czech fluo green **** that people drink with burnt sugar, grrrr) and no, not alcoholics at all. From Germany, Poland, Czech Rep, Slovenia, all over the USA and UK, Finns and Danes, Japanese, lots of French of course, and many more. A great bunch who come once or twice a year for absinthe related events on both side of border. But we digress- yes- fabulous autumn weather. A big bunch of them coming over soon for the apéro in the garden.

At least you still have a local alpabzug.

When I first moved here we had a glorious Viehausstellung with the cows parading in from the surrounding farms. I loved the cacophony of cowbells, loved watching them go by in their finery. It was quite the local celebration.

But as our little village slowly turns into a concrete wasteland Zürich suburb the Ausstellungsplatz, and with it the importance of tradition, grows smaller and smaller each year. This year there is only enough space left for a few sad cows. Only a handful paraded in, efficiency now rules the day and the rest come by truck.

Viehausstellung isn't much of a celebration anymore, to most of the city slickers newer villagers it's just a traffic inconvenience.

Sic transit gloria mundi.

But the weather was nice. To get back on topic.

Re: Weather!

..- and a massive drought with dreadul fires- the situation there is truly alarming, as were telling me friends from San Fran and Sacramento at the week-end.

Weather seems to have turned (edit- up here in the NE Jura!!!)- raining now after weeks and weeks of gorgeous weather. If the sun returns, wild mushrooms will be in abundance at last.

Re: Weather!

Rained at night again.
Today was another lovely day made all the better by being unexpected. It was forecast to be wet all day today but it stopped at around 8am and it was really warm and sunny and I even got my washing dry outside.
