Re: Weather!

We had a bit over a foot of fluffy light snow overnight- and a winter wonderland, sunny in parts, day. Lots of snow blowing and shovelling- and got the rest of the garden chairs and table to safety.

Wow OH is out there taking photos as the low winter sun is 'catching' the snow ladden trees and Chruch steeple- gorgeous.

Re: Weather!

Only a very small dusting for us and that's melted off now. Quite a nice sunny afternoon.

Re: Weather!

No snow here and that suits me just fine.
It was quite a chilly day but lovely and sunny so just how I like it.

Re: Weather!

T'was VERY cold last night with totally clear skies. In La Brévine, little Siberia up the road, it was nearly minus 25. This morning, it is a winter wonderland, the sun is shining on the snowy trees and all the fields are twinkling.

Re: Weather!

Very frosty here this morning, but lovely sunshine again. Outside temp dipped to -0.1 a little while ago, but is now back up to 0.4. Rain/sleet/snow due for us tomorrow so not a nice day from the sounds of it.

Re: Weather!

A mild frost in some areas of our village, first of the year, but should warm up later in the week.

Wow is there a thermometer in that point? -25C sounds unlikely...

Edit: Meteo Centrale confirms Nice natural fridge

Re: Weather!

Oh yes- lots of offcial measurements in La Brévine. Minus 25 is warm for the region, not called Little Siberia for nothing- the record there is minus 42.6- now THAT is cold.

www.labrevine.ch

have a look at the webcam for Les Taillères, the small peat bog lake in that Valley, which turns into a giant ice-rink in winter- surrounded by a tundra like landscape with peat bog forests. Looks like the lake has produced a bit of fog with the sun rising- none here, brilliant sunshine.

When the conditions are good, they rent skates at the Eastern end of the lake, near the large car-park, and sell grilled sausages, chestnuts, vin chaud, etc. It's also a great valley to learn how to cross-country ski as it is flat and pistes marked daily, with a great ski hire shop called ... La Siberia, in the village.

Re: Weather!

Actually, the official record is -41.8C. Ice skating you say? I thought that the Joux lake is the best place but last winter it hasn't frozen... I definitely must check out your spot. Thanks for the tip

Re: Weather!

Here is an article listing the 20 coldest places around Switzerland last night

Quote:
Brévine, in the Canton of Neuchatel reached a low of -23.4 C, Les Ponts-de-Martel, also in Neuchatel dropped to -18.2 C, and Rothenthurm-Mösli, in the canton of Schwyz reached -16.7 C.

The coldest place on the list was the uninhabited weather station of Glattalp (1858 m), in canton Schwyz with -30.9 C.
