There has been a soldier, in full combat gear with a big gun, posted outside the postoffice / jeweller's in Baar all day today. I asked my friendly shop keeper if it was a little strange and she laughed and said no it was normal. She told me the reason in German but unfortunately neither of us could translate it. I had been expecting her to tell me it was some fancy dress jape.
Does anyone know what the story is? Is it some kind of training exercise for the invasion?
That's odd. We (private security outfits - no, not Blackwater...) guard jewelery stores, banks, WEF in Davos and stuff, but not in full military uniform...
Never heard on the army officially guarding private enterprises.
So the word used was "Übung" which seems to mean a military exercise or my neighbour said "test". He also said, in reply to my, "but why?", "have you heard of paranoia?"
His unit was probably holding a military training exercise and he might have had to stay there e.g. to redirect people involved in the exercise or whatever. I remember I once had to stand the whole day in front of a post office in full gear and a radio during some exercise, but I can't remember what was the specific reason. I remember old folks stopping for a chat and recounting the days of when they were serving...

There were also four military planes that flew over yesterday. Should we protect and survive? I need to stock my bunker (which would necessitate removing all the stuff stored down there so I'll take my chances)

between that & C Boris' quote yeasterday, reminded me of this :
Actually, now you come to mention it, I saw him this morning and thought he was probably waiting for a bus. It is a bit scary to think I've got used to the sight of 12 year olds with rifles. They mainly look pre pubescent to me at least
