Looking for mattress for rent

Hi, We are expecting some guests in end of March 2008 for 2 weeks. Therefore, we are looking for mattress for rent ( 1 double bed or 2 single bed mattresses).

Does anyone know where one can rent mattresses in Basel?

Or does anyone has them which I can rent?

I am no expert but is it even legal to rent mattresses, since they tend to absorb dust, sweat, skin particals etc. over time??? (the thought of somebody elses dust mites crawling around on me makes my skin crawl )

What might be a more permanent solution, one we use, is buying a blowup mattress. Assuming that your guests do not have any major back problems it works out rather well. They are portable, storable, clean, not too expensive and they are pretty comfortable.

The inflatable mattresses that you can get down at Jumbo are pretty cheap (can't remember the exact price) and are pretty comfortable too. Not like the old one's back when I was a kid. Though don't be tempted to get the fancy one's that inflate up to the full height of a normal bed. Those one's are end up way too soft by morning and don't give a good nights sleep.

True, but having worked at a hotel I know that they steam clean them regularly (by law. . . at least in the states), thus keeping the creepy crawlies down.

Buy one - they dont cost much. I'm sure you could pick up a second hand one if you really had to.

Re: Looking for mattress for rent

We happen to have two single mattresses that we were going to give to charity. They are a few years old, but still in good condition. We just don't have room for them anymore. So if you would like to have them for free ... let me know

Re: Looking for mattress for rent

The Fettag Brockenstube on Oettlingerstrasse in KleinBasel has a lot of beds some fold out beds, mattresses and they have a delivery service. They mostly sell stuff but you could probably talk them into renting.

I think its really nice not to buy new stuff every time. There's a lot of junk in landfills (that took a lot of fossil fuels to create) because we buy things that we don't intend to keep for our lifetime.

Please take soapbox away
