Buy online in Germany and get whole VAT deducted automatically?

It used tobe possible to buy at amazon.de – and deliver to Switzerland – but nowadays I tistricky. I know there is delivery addressed in Konstanz for example – but thereare also other players like www.meineinkauf.ch and www.grenzpaket.ch

Question:
Are there online solutionswhich give me the German VAT back without too much hassle?

I wouldlike to buy for example a camera for EUR 300 at an online.de shop in Germany –and the price I pay is deducted 20 percent German VAT and added 8 percent SwissVAT + a fee paid to the company whoadministrate the whole thing including sending the parcel with the Swiss Postto my home address in Switzerland?

When I lookat for example www.meineinkauf.ch – they seems to arrange the Swiss VAT – but Iwant to avoid the German VAT.

Thanks,Swisson

MeinEinkauf does the "exporting" to Switzerland, gets back the German VAT, adds the Swiss VAT and duty, and pockets the difference, plus charges for S&H.
So basically you get the product with German brutto price.
Otherwise find a shop in Germany which ships abroad for a netto price, and then the shipping company will process it through Swiss customs adding Swiss VAT and duty, and will charge for this a fee - in the range of CHF10-40 depending what shipping company that is. Shipping via Deutsche Post used to be cheaper option, but then rhey started using some expensive company for delivering to Switzerland - not sure what's the state of affairs is right now.

Unfortunately Amazon only ship to DHL packet service so that you could collect in Germany. But its impossible to register for this service if one lives in Swiitzerland. You have to provide a German address and give a german handy number.

Re: Buy online in Germany and get whole VAT deducted automatically?

I looked at Meineinkauf and thought it wasn't a bad deal depending on the value of the purchase.

They have to clear Swiss customs as well which as I understand it has a Basic fee of CHF12, plus 3% of the total value of the goods including delivery costs + a CHF15 customs clearance fee.

On your example of the EUR300 camera this would equate to CHF36.

So ordering your camera direct to CH would cost EUR300 less EUR47.90 in MwsT plus say EUR15 for postage(total EUR 267.10 or CHF328.65). Then the CHF36 fee (CHF390.94). You would then have to add CH MwsT of 8%, inclusive of import charges = CHF422.22.

Using Meineinkauf you would pay EUR305, assuming EUR5 internal delivery (CHF375.28) + CHF14.90 = CHF 390.18. Bearing in mind they have to maintain a warehouse, staff, etc, etc. Seems like a good deal.

I am not sure how it works with reclaiming MwsT if you send it to a delivery address in Germany and bring it over yourself. But if you can reclaim MwsT then it would cost you EUR257.10 + EUR2 (grenzpacket cost). You are still over the CHF 300 discretionary per day duty free allowance and they will hit you with a fee anyway.

Grenzpaket.ch comes cheaper than meineinkauf.ch. What is the feedback on both services?

Using Hermes how would you go about claiming your German tax back on both under and over 300 francs?

Same as always, have the German Customs stamp your form and then take it back to the shop.
