What treats to bring to work on your birthday?

Hi everyone!

My birthday is coming up soon (this friday actually) and I understand that the tradition is to bring treats to work for your coworkers. So i have to bring something for maybe 50/60 people on Friday..... Can anyone share ideas of what to bring? Share your experience as well?

Thanks!

Re: What treats to bring to work on your birthday?

In the department where I work, you make a cake or bring Gipfeli... or a Zuger Kirschtorte if you're feeling really decadent. But there are only 20 of us, not 60...

Re: What treats to bring to work on your birthday?

Usually wine/champagne/other beverages and an array of nibbles. The coworkers tend to bake a cake for the birthday boy/girl. Having said that, we are just a group of 10-12, so I am not sure whether this is feasible for a group of 50-60.

Re: What treats to bring to work on your birthday?

I think you would usually only bring a cake for your immediate colleagues and supervisor, maybe up to 10 people. If you want to be generous you could also bring a small amount of wine, 1 bottle for every 3 or 4 people, and some orange juice & water.

Maybe ask a colleague, what is usual at your company.

I agree I did struggle a bit with this norm in Suisse Romande (ok, I may be generalising...)- elsewhere, the treats are all for you and not for others. You just bask in all the birthday celebrations

We also have the same tradition at the company I work for. We are also approx. 50 people. Last time I made 3 different cakes. Brownie, muffin and some kind of coconut rolls. I learned they love chocolate cakes. They really liked it. Some colleague took brioche for all or some other home made stuff. Brownie and muffins are really quick cakes.

Re: What treats to bring to work on your birthday?

Depending on the mood I was, in the past few years I alternated
- just gipfeli/sweetbreads (smiles and greetings)
- schwarzwald cakes (more smiles and greetings)
- combination of the 2 + few drinks (worshipped)

For 30 persons more or less

In my you are expected to bring stuff for various occasions, thankfully only croissants or pain au chocs are required and it's only about 10 people.

But last day before holiday, however short.. Birthday.. House move..baby.. Even a new car for somebody triggered office treats.

Hi,

I work in an office of about 50 people and I usually bring 2 large cakes and just let people help themselves .... And it is usually enough for everyone.
Happy many returns in advance

We are closer to the hundred mark.. Buy about 50 petit pains. Usually enough because not everyone eats them.
And if u were too slow... Tough luck!! ;-)
