| | | Re: [Haircut] Seek English-speaking Hairdresser/stylist/barbee
I went to The Londoner on Saturday for a cut. I was very pleased with the service and my haircut. Alex really listened to what I wanted and both he and his girlfriend are super friendly. It was, however, a tiny bit pricey but worth it. I would definitely recommend The Londoner. | Quote: | | | | | My mate's English speaking salon is having it's official opening on Saturday 9th June 2007.

I've now gone beyond the point of "Hm, I could use a haircut" to "Wow, it's been nearly 4 months now, I want to look like ZZ Top"
...I might pop to the Londoner this weekend...

| | | Men's haircut
My husband needs a haircut BAD! We just moved here a little over a week ago and live in Zürich Wiedikon area soon moving to Seefeld area. Can anyone recommend a place for him to get a haircut. Just a walk-in like Supercuts? Please help, he's wanting to cut it himself (not a good idea ), I have to hide the scissors.
thanks

Most of the hairdressers round our place will cut hair without appointments if they aren't busy (i.e. don't turn up on a Saturday expecting a quick service). Tell you husband to go on, say, a Tuesday after lunch.
Haircuts are pretty pricey compared to the UK (well, my hairdresser back in England was about a quarter of the price) so don't be shocked if your husband comes back white as a sheet and penniless. |

| | | Re: Men's haircut
there's a supercut-kind of place in the Aemtlerstrasse in Wiedikon, right next to the underground Coop by the Zwinglihaus bus stop (sorry, forgot the name). I walked in there on a Saturday morning, got immediate, friendly service for about 55 CHF (which is half the price I paid at other hairdressers before), and the result was surprisingly good. Their english is rather poor, and so is my german, but we managed anyway. Haircuts are not too difficult to explain using hand gestures, apparently. So I can recommend the place, I figure that prices are lower for men's cuts.
If only I could remember the name of the place

I usually go to this small place for men's haircuts:
Coiffeurgeschäft Figaro
Kalkbreitestr. 98
8003 Zürich
044 461 50 40
( Map)
The two Italians who own the place know German but probably not very good English... But then again, this is a personal recommendation. They normally don't make appointments. A cut without hairwash (they're one of the few places that usually don't wash before) should cost less than 40 Fr.
You can find other coiffeurs by clicking this link (and changing the post code if necessary).
A simple, appointments optional coiffeur chain is Orinad.
Edit: I mean another place than konijn, there is more than one near the Zwinglihaus bus stop.

| | | Re: Men's haircut www.gidor.ch have places all round this area. I used the one in Sihlcity. Cost CHF40, but it was a decent wash and cut. More than I would pay at home, but hey! Stylist didn't speak much English (and my German is still laughable ) but I was pleased with the results.
Forgot to mention - no appointment necessary - just walked in off the street. Had to wait 20 mins or so. |

I went to En Vogue in Bahnhofstrasse 35, and even though the prices might not be very competitive (they are shown in the shop window), I had the best hairdresser in my life and he spoke a perfect english (just ask for someone who speaks english once you arrive, everyone does but they'll make the appointment with him), moreover it looked as if everything was prepared to make you feel very comfortable.

| | | Re: [Haircut] Seek English-speaking Hairdresser/stylist/barbee | Quote: | | | | | There's a great little hairdresser in Zurich at Bleicherweg 10, 2 minutes walk from Paradeplatz. It's a really friendly place staffed by nice young ladies who are so entirely down to earth its hard to believe you're still in Zurich.
Ask for Rosa, who speaks English very well and furthermore really enjoys getting the chance to speak English with customers. I normally pay around 53.- which isnt the cheapest, but certainly isnt the most expensive.
The best thing about the place is that you can just wonder in off the street and either get an appointment there and then, or typically later that day. I don't think I've ever gone in there and not had my hair cut the same day.
Call Rosa on 044 202 81 17. | | | | | I just had my hair cut today at this place, and I totally recommend it. The place is called Coiffure Reolon Francois, and it's "round the side" of 10 Bleicherweg, by the river (dont worry you'll find it). I had Rosa, she''s very friendly and did a fantastic job. I'm male and have medium-long hair which is much harder to cut than short hair, and she did very well (possibly my best cut yet, we'll see). The full price would have been 60SFr but first timers get 20% off so it was ~47SFr.

If you are looking for an English speaking hairdresser in the centre of Zurich, then you must try:
Creation Mikula Coiffure
Claridenstrasse 25 (near the Hyatt Park Hotel)
Telephone 043 222 49 59
For a city centre salon, close to the big banks (!) it is very good value, relaxing atmostphere and with 20 years experience, Sylvia (the salon owner) has given me the best haircut I have had in years. She also cuts my husband's and children's hair, so what more can I say!
A new stylist has recently joined ( again experienced and also English speaking), his name is Ganesh Lewis and is looking for some new clients,he works Thursdays and Fridays.

I am personally a fan of Lee McConnell. He is from the UK, and has a salon right by Central in Zurich. I have curly hair and am usually very mistrusting of hairdressers. However, I have been going to Lee for the last 2 years and he has always given me a great cut, great color, and now even my hair has style.
I would reccommend him and his staff highly.

Hi to all out there,
Really glad to have found this website, not only am I looking for a good hairdresser to cut my hair, I am also in the industry and have just recently come over from South Africa and would love to start working again, If anyone out there is looking for an enthusiastic English speaking hairdresser can you please let me know. I am staying not far from Baden so Zurich is easy for me to get to. I also have a large amount of English speaking friends from ABB and Alstom in Baden so I already have some clients.
Thanks
