Re: The First World Problem Thread

When you report threads getting cluttered up by off-topic posts made by mods they don't delete the posts. It makes a mockery of thread tidy-ups.

When you try and help individual posters by separating their own threads to make them more usable they just whinge about it anyway.

We had something that beeped once an hour NOT ON THE HOUR for years. Across multiple flats in the UK. YEARS I TELLS YOU.

Since we moved to Switzerland, nothing. best decision of my life to relocate here now you know the real reason

UBS credit card fraud protection is so good, that I can't go on a spending binge without having to explain myself to them

Shitty day to try and get advice on EF about motorcyles in the Ticino or selfish smoking habits in Zürich.

Where are Tom & Tom when you need them?

I suggest we have two minutes silence for our banned brethren at 1PM to mark this solemn occasion.

And in future we should all have November 17 off respecting "Tom Day" and wear chips on our shoulders to mark our loyalty.

Unusually for a Monday morning, the traffic into Zurich was so light that I got into work 30 minutes earlier than I wanted to

Are you absolutely sure it is in the office? When we lived in the Aargau there was regular beeping sound at 7 am every day which seemed to come from outside. I'm not sure it wasn't something to do with the electricity supply.

Fuel prices have gone down but I can't take advantage because my car is so fuel efficient that it's taking forever for my current tank to finish

Can you fill up a fuel can? (Or, jerrycan as it is called, too...)

In Australia, when we still had two vehicles at home, my folks always tried to coordinate both tanks and the jerrycan needing a fill-up at the same time. The jerrycan reserve was used both to fuel the lawnmower as well as buffer the fuel use between both vehicles before the next fill.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Went away for the weekend in the "donkey" - and after 30mins on the motorway I realized I really missed cruise control and steering wheel controls for the hi-fi.

I then started missing having navi (just so I know how much further I have to drive); and then an onboard computer for essential up to date fuel economy readings.

And then Head Up Display

All of which happened 15mins after I realized that although the car (10-15 years ago) was a hugely capable motorway cruiser it felt restless and lacked the stability of my usual motorway mile muncher.

Empty the tank and find somewhere safe to dispose the contents

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Went to buy a new iPhone as my old one is giving me problems and its finally time for an upgrade...the lovely lady at the sunrise shop told me she can either sell it cash to me for 849CHF or put it on 2 year contract at 35.38CHF per month....i did the quick math, and worked out that there is no interest on the phone...which was odd as in most countries they would add a certain % of the cost price to the phone on the contract...I asked about it, and she said that, yes a few years ago such a phone would cost about 1200CHF on contract, but since TIS they changed it to reflect as its more fair to the customer that way...
Oh well

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Laughing at the absurdity of our situation. We only need one car. We have a little Mercedes 180; however, my wife's company just gave her an Audi A7. We like our little car as it is easier to get around town and into our driveway. But who can turn down a free car, especially a nice Audi? So we are pissing and moaning about having such a large car. We even gave serious consideration to just saying no thanks. Do I win an award for the most pathetic first world problem?
