| | | Macumba nightclub [looking for Geneva nightlife tips]
Has anyone been here/ can recommend it?
Thinking of going this weekend... would it be best here for a night out or round Geneva?
Cheers

Look and learn. From personal experience, I know that Shorrick knows his nightclubs.

Are you looking for the full tag-team action thang ? That will be 420CHF/nose. For a treatment worthy of your status and aspirations, you are looking at a team of at least four. Ugly premiums may be applicable in your case.

If you want absolute glitz, the Java is the place to be. Drinks start at 35+. Bobos hang out at la SIP (be early or you won't get in); drinks from 15 onwards. Alternatives hang out at l'Usine or Artamis, drinks prices depending on your luck and what you're dressed like. There are another few small bombs where you don't really want to go unless you're into teens and coke. Students hang out at la Datcha (free entrance) and CIU (student card needed - a friend of a friend says good fakes work too).
Now if you are really serious about spending, I heard through the grapewine that the Velvet is the place to be. Champagne starts at CHF 95 a glass (unless you carry a badge sporting our republic's proud colors, in which case you'll be given a 90 CHF rebate...).

Artamis is an alternative place.
The Java club is maybe the one for you if you want to blow your money ( I didn't like it ).
There are some others discos and clubs in the city check out www.tillate.ch |

Since I mostly go to a club for the actual music I tend to prefer the Zoo at l'Usine or Witamix, since that's where they tend to get jungle/trance/glitch DJs. Of course your milage may vary.
If you have other motives you might like, say, Shaker's as it seems to be the dive of choice for young expats, or at least it was when it was in the old town. I could never stand the music, but I've seen people have fun there. Also of note is the Ahambar which is upstairs from the Alhambra theatre in the old town. It's more of a lounge, but they have interesting music, and are very much favored by the Au-Pair set.
