I don't think Basel was even worth considering for the poll.

0 to -1 for Zurich!

In other news, Basel was voted Europe' most profitable city, by subscribers to Scaffolding & Concrete-Workers Journal.

Why is there "lifestyle" and "tourism" in Yahoo's URL about a survey of real estate investors from PriceWaterhouseCoopers?

Re: Zurich voted second most boring city ...

Yes it is indeed boring compared to many other places.

But you can have a lot of fun if you search for it.

Yesterday I was dancing with a girl that virtually took my breath away. Easily a 9.99.... Not many women have produced this level of breathing disfunction on me in a looong time, and I have had my share of them.... fiuu!

If you can say that "Life isn’t measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away" Then I think zürich has had one of them. God bless it !

P.S. I know it is unrelated to the topic but I had to share it with you

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Zürich is not a good place to go on vacation or to visit (especially compared to other major European cities), however, it is a fantastic place to live. There's always something going on, if you know where to go.

Re: Zurich voted second most boring city ...

Spoken like a true academic. I used to have this boss that used to start every other sentence with "As I said," implying that you were somehow not paying attention or were to stupid to remember.

This got really annoying and someone pulled him up on it in public and asked "When did you say it ?? Come on ! When ?". Unable to answer, he very rarely did it again.

There's no need to search for the link chem, we know you actually have said it before

Re: Zurich voted second most boring city ...

Boring is good, when there are no strikes, explosions, protest marches and other disruptions. How boring "the 7:23 train again departed at 7:23". Not exactly headline news.

And let's keep all the exciting places secret before those are crowded out.

The Economist magazine downgraded Switzerland to "politically unstable" because it has a new president every year.

Zürich is a great place: perfectly-formed in a size, content and grooming.

See Dave, I didn't say "As I Said" Geez, get with the program.

The article is kinda silly though, they interview 1,100 travelers who may have spent what, maybe a couple of days in Zurich, they didn't now where to go, wandered around the Neiderdorf, didn't find anything exciting to do and said it was boring. Stupid travelers.

Re: Zurich voted second most boring city ...

ok, maybe London might even be dirtier than Rome, but there is no way it beats Naples, which is too bad 'cause it's a really beautiful city but it can be really really dirty.
Rome and no Milano in the best shopping list? strange as its fashion boutiques are always packed with tourists (even though the prices are outrageous).

Better than the 7:23 train leaving at 7:22, that really chaps my hide. I think that was my most Swissy moment, when I got mad at the train for leaving a minute early.

When I was working on a railway project a few years ago, there was a power outage that left trains stranded on bridges. There was panic in the office. It was great.

Re: Zurich voted second most boring city ...

You are right on that Chem,

whenever I came to Zurich visiting only, I went to the niederdorf or maybe to a jazz club and wandered around and found the city indeed boring and lifeless.

But the real life happens inside places. you have to know where they are and which of them matches what you look for.

It is indeed more lively and funny than Geneva.
