| | | A Survey: The Red Pass [Swiss passport] - Do you or your spouse/partner have a Swiss passport?
- Do you or your spouse/partner have other passport(s)?
This is just to get an idea of some of the demographics of our EF members... |

I didn't vote because it seems you have to vote regarding your partner or yourself, but not both, but the question seems to encompass both
Interesting question.

I voted that my husband has one - but there should also be an option that "my spouse has one and I am considering applying for one" along with both of those as the individual options.
I know, I know, I always complain about options on polls |

I thought about this and I considered multiple-choice but in the end, it's down firstly to what you have as the poster on EF.
Get your other half to vote too
I would have liked to vote for me to get a Red Pass but alas, I got bored at 8 options.
I see Bruce has been in then |

Well close enough anyway - more exactly my answer would be "My spouse has one (and my child) and I will apply for one."

I am not trying to pick a bone, but this demographics data is not allowed in the Switzerland? Is it not?
I mean I had to sign all sorts of forms, and most of them are about data privacy and protection in CH.

Heya
What about the option " my spouse has a swiss passport but I dont want or need one really ?"
Lol just kidding about yet another option. My Fiancee has a Swiss passport as he is Swiss but I dont think I really need one - I mean, that there is nowhere that I am aware of that I cant go on the Australian passport, that I can go on the swiss - But, at the same time I think I want just so I can say that I have two Passports
Enjoy

I thought both Switzerland and the UK participated in the same Pet Passport scheme . . .

I thought both Switzerland and the UK participated in the same Pet Passport scheme . . . | | | | | While the passports serve the same function, each EU state issue it's own passport, as does Switzerland. The UK PETS rules are the most rigorous, but there are still some variations as to entry requirements among the other participating countries. Always check the regs for the country you are visiting...
Only one of mine had the nice red passport - the others hold German, Spanish and Italian ones... and one is a papierlos asylum seeker.
Getting back on topic... We humans are are stuck with US passports, and unfortunately that's not likely to change. But at least someone in the family qualifies as an echt Schweizer.
Edited to add:
DC, as long as your dog has met the UK PETS requirements, there is no real need to get a UK passport in addition to the Swiss one - mine traveled in and out of the UK on her Swiss papers.

kt | | | | | I just found out the hard way that Brazil is one of those places. Ended up in Buenos Aires for a week waiting for the application to process, while my wife sunned herself at the Copa Cabana.
Right now I have the application here...but I am reluctant to send it until I have steady employment again.

| | | Re: A Survey: The Red Pass [Swiss passport]
I was born here to a Swiss father so I have a Swiss passport.
My British mother registered my birth with the embassy here but for various reasons, my father didn't want me to have the passport and never agreed to me getting it but not disagreeing either. So Jack Straw (or one of his assistants, the letter has his name on it) wrote one final letter, got no answer and I just managed to get the passport in time before the right to have it expired three months before my 18th birthday.
A lot of countries don't allow for two passports, not sure why, maybe because people would use them fraudulently but since a British passport doesn't even get you home status in the British education system (I had to pay overseas fees for uni), not many advantages there. Well ok, I get to pick the shorter queue at the airport.
