For me it's the overpriced sales threads on this forum, overpriced cars, watches, carpets and free vouchers sold for "2% discount"

me? I'll be going for a bit but I think "return" might be overstating it a bit. But it's lovely you've taken such a strong interest in my life Odile. And I understand things can get expensive when you're spending British taxpayer-funded pensions in Switzerland but I hope you're coping.

can of Coke and Mars Bar is around £1
Exactly, shows how out of date you are
Sample prices from a London Tesco Metro

500ml coke (£1.31)
*New* Fun Size Snickers bar (63p)

And I'm not saying Switzerland is any cheaper, it isn't however I don't gasp at the price differential any more because London prices are almost on par (but salaries are obviously not)

the queue was from Melide to the Stabi/Mendrisio exit. It was the Saturday after Good Friday.
That was not the 'other day' then, but rather 'the other week'.

Of course prices stated are Zuri prices- not generally Swiss. In many other parts of the country, many things are actually quite a bit cheaper than UK- especially of course for those on much higher salaries here. Where in the UK can you have a coffee, a glass of orange juice, 2 slices of toast with butter and jam for 4CHF?
Where here. . And not ikea breakfast special.

Re: You've been Switzerlanded - what does it mean for you?

Salt and Pepper restaurant in Fleurier www.saltpepper.ch

Great Menu du Jour with salad buffet 17 CHF

Great Indian Food and Tapas menu too- fab (Pakistani owner- prices for Indian food are high compared to UK, but price includes rice, naan and veg, unlike UK where basic price is about £8 to 10, then you add rice, naan and veg, etc).

you...you...you pick a newsagent in KENSINGTON as your price comparison. What about a Mars bar autographed by Michael Jordan? Or a bottle of coke dipped in platinum?

The cafe in our local Manor centre does croissant, slice of bread or roll with butter and jam, glass of orange juice and a coffee, tea or hot chocolate for 4 chf.
Very nice it is too.

PS. I don't think that link is what you were intending to post Odile.

but you... you... pick Zuri prices for comparison- same thing .. sublime to ridiculous.
Price with rice, vegetable and nan btw.

Drive around the UK for a day or two, and you'll be defo complain about the price of petrol, that's for sure- win some, lose some. How much for petrol between Dover and Glasgow I wonder. And how much in petrol and Mway tolls between Pontarlier and Calais - over £100 one way!!!
Price of milk in UK - yep, cheap- and for good (bad) reasons...

You picked a Burger joint in Zurich to make your point.. but OK, let me find a dilapidated cafe on a Burnley industrial estate to make you happy.
