You've been Switzerlanded - what does it mean for you?

Following on from: Somebody has been reading EF... and the 20 Minuten report featuring "Switzerlanded"....

What does being Switzerlanded mean for you?

Positive:
I've obviously been Switzerlanded too long. High prices don't shock me but I enjoy returning to Switzerland and find the public transport to be excellent. I'm actually on the train now, it has plenty of space and I know it'll arrive on time at its destination. It's clean, freshly-refurbished and each seat has power.

Negative:
The traffic in Ticino. Just the other day I wanted to avoid being "Switzerlanded" in Swiss supermarkets (limited choice - but better than the 90s - plus high prices) so I headed off towards Italy.

I was "Switzerlanded" on the highway instead. Stopped for speeding? Nope....! I was stuck in a 10+km queue for the highway exit for Foxtown....! I suppose I should be happy that foreigners and visitors from elsewhere in Switzerland are bringing money into my region

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't "to get/be Switzerlanded" an adjective as opposed to a verb!?

Tom
the queue was from Melide to the Stabi/Mendrisio exit. It was the Saturday after Good Friday.

everyone travelling home on Saturday must have been happy - they were Switzerlanded with a 12km queue heading north through the Gottardo

Switzerlanded - the shock felt after knowing that there will be shock involved in any purchase, service interaction or travel in Switzerland, quite often accompanied by facepalming yourself for knowing better!!

I thought that was when somebody offered you a drink, you order them, and they suddenly can't find their wallet.

Similar to being "Jaged":
"I'm sorry my dear, I appear to left my wallet in the JAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGG"

nah that ship has sailed. But we have the chance to show that not everyone thinks it's just about being "ripped off"

or don't you think there will be new visitors?

Re: You've been Switzerlanded - what does it mean for you?

I think a lot of us Brits still walk around with 5 year old price comparisons in our heads, prices have shot up in Blighty.

A can of fizzy pop and a bar of chocolate is around 2, cinema tickets, popcorn and 2 small drinks = 28, add 50 for a so-so dinner at a gourmet burger restaurant and that's serious wedge for a night out in Harrow.

Switzerland is not that expensive anymore

all of this is rubbish (apart from the cinema which is quite expensive).

can of Coke and Mars Bar is around 1. From a kiosk it's 4.50 CHF.

A gourmet burger, chips and a drink is around 12. Helvti Diner burger, chips and coke is around 32CHF.

We all envy your impending return to the UK- lucky lucky you Hope you don't smoke or drive a car.

Of course prices stated are Zuri prices- not generally Swiss. In many other parts of the country, many things are actually quite a bit cheaper than UK- especially of course for those on much higher salaries here. Where in the UK can you have a coffee, a glass of orange juice, 2 slices of toast with butter and jam for 4CHF?
