Re: Have you taken your Iodine tablets?

We will be at the vet again tomorrow. I will ask him. Our dog requires special blood tests specific to the thryoid gland.

Here's an article that seems to suggest no:

Either way, I'd be very careful administering a medication that is manufactured for a human body size/composition to an animal.

Does anyone actually know if these tablets can/should be administered to pets?

Just a reminder that if you had unused tablets which have expired, do not put them in the trash bin /waste bin or flush them down the toilet.

As with all expired meds, take them to the pharmacy.

You should consult your veterinary in regard to your question. Not all pets and not even all dogs are the same. He then may even give a different medicament for your dog

I on receipt of that Kalium-Iodid was shocked for a short moment as it was the first time after 20 years that I got mail from the army (Armee-Apotheke Ittigen)

Amazing is that the instructions are in German, French, English, Italian, Portuguese, Serbian, Turkish and Shkipetar/Albanian (not in Arabic as it apparently is supposed that Arabs understand one of the European languages above

Good is that it can be stored at between 15 and 25 degrees centigrade, in other words room temperatures

It is emphasized again and again that the stuff only should be taken upon definite instructions from the authorities (Radio, TV, etc) and not in the way of preemptive action

I'm astonished that you feel qualified to judge the safety of the Swiss nuclear installed base after a guided tour of Leibstadt!
Personally, I'm much more concerned with what the French are up to just over the border. Oui, non?

I can't imagine that my husband and I BOTH need an entire package, though, so we may as well send some home to family in the US. With 20x the number of nuclear reactors, I'm guessing they'll need them more than we will!

Exactly, anyone ever had a look at Fessenheim? Battersea looks more capable of producing power than that dump. And if that place goes up then we're all screwed. Well not now we've got our IODINE tablets

Re: Have you taken your Iodine tablets?

Bern has now started distributing these tablets to organisations, schools, firms, old people's homes etc.
The concern is that people are not at home when the accident occurs.

I hope they distribute them to the supermarkets so housewives (housemen) are covered.

They are Swiss tablets, they probably won't work effectively with the much dirtier French radiation!

You're too far away from any Swiss sites I suppose. They're only given to people within a 50 km radius.

Yes. We received a letter this week, informing us that our firm will be receiving iodine tablets soon.
