Re: London vs Zurich

It was assumed earlier that Southern Europeans are more creative, that they have an eye for beauty and style. Surrounded by beautiful countryside they can channel their energies into wonderful pieces of design.

Northern Europeans sit under grey skies, surrounded by dismal industrial buildings, where their flair is buried and they find no motivation to create achingly beautiful pieces of design

By the way regarding your spouse (from the PRC I understand), have you ever asked yourself the question whether you would be married today if your wife were a PRC man and you were a western woman? Do you think the family of your PRC husband would have accepted you?
Why should he ? He isn't a prejudiced person who would see everything with the prism of his race (and gender) vis-a-vis that of his partner and/or freind.

attention in this thread, this has been indicated by some of your other responses. Most common reasons for this being either one wants to be the center of attention (ego ) or one fears it (paranoia). Or some strange, insecure combination of the two.

quite a range of topics, this thread, I keep thinking if I am on the right thread....
well it's because:

You're such a NooB. The title of this thread should be changed to "OfficeGirl trolls and rants".

I have not taken any personal "jabs" at anyone here.
Ehmm not quite from what I see in the posts below:

Sudeepta, I find this post rather ironic coming from you an Indian, one of the least assimilated ethnicities if not the least assimilated ethnicity in the world thanks to the caste system still followed by most in India. I suggest that you transpose the above quote to India and see how your fellow Indians feel about the possibility that the entirety of the Indian subcontinent could have been subsumed by the moghul invasion of India in the sixteenth century. From the posts you have made in this forum you seem to be proud of your heritage and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. However please recognize that your name would not be Sudeepta today had it not been for the extremely restrictive cultural mating practices adopted by your place of origin.

More about British assimilation in another post.

And what contribution of substance have you made Trevarus? Rather than crying ignorance and intolerance why don't you explain using reason and fact why we are wrong. By the way regarding your spouse (from the PRC I understand), have you ever asked yourself the question whether you would be married today if your wife were a PRC man and you were a western woman? Do you think the family of your PRC husband would have accepted you?

And by that, I propose that we all agree with this conclusion:

You don't have to prove anything and it is really not all about how attractive or unattractive the person is but the attitude. There are many stunning women with super careers in their 30's who are very single and there are reasons why this happens and it can be explained. Not everyone can have it all and It doesn't have to be your fault. Nobody actually said that.

Re: London vs Zurich

Why should this thread be closed?

Even though it keeps veering off on several tangents with reversions every so often to the original theme, I've found some of the arguments/views/perspectives put forward quite interesting and revealing, including the OP's!

Talking of ego, she's definitely not the only contributor on this thread who has issues with this.

@OfficeGirl: If the attitude you've displayed here in written form really is how you present yourself in real life, then - irrespective of how attractive you are or consider yourself to be - I think you'll encounter dating issues wherever you go, not just in London or Zurich.

That said, I wish you well. Everyone deserves a chance at finding meaningful and hopefully lasting happiness and love with someone, somewhere and often this happens when one least expects or is looking for it...

It perhaps wasn't the smartest thing putting up pics of yourself on this forum and your stated reasons for doing so just don't cut it as far as I'm concerned. I didn't see them but from the complimentary posts, I gather they were quite pleasant and good for you on that. Just stop trying to apply statistics and data analytics to every facet of your life and just be...

I find it ironic that you're asking yourself this and then go on about OP's attitude.
Sure, why close it, of course. It just seems a bit cruel to me..

Well, yes but first one is much older right? This is not the same year of production and the style was also different.

Then your definition of irony and mine are markedly different!

Actually, I'm not asking myself this question, but rather you/anyone else who has called for its closure.

OP's attitude notwithstanding and putting aside my view on it, the thread has provided some good discussion points from some notable contributors thus far, such as @Sudeepta and @Phos, so why close it?

This too.
How about Nordic design?
I've seen so many stereotypes here I can't even be bothered with them.

Phos I was referring to physical attributes; of course beauty in the sense of attraction to someone refers to much more than looks but when you or I are walking down the street, we don't know what each other's souls look like. We talked about this already.
Do you mean like NYC Street People? So if a decent looking Asian guy who you casually know expressed interest in getting to know you better, and asked you out, would you turn him down because he's Asian?

I at some point agree with Greenmount, the discussions on here become disheartening and now tend to have personal jabs.
Of course, on the other side, we got a lot of remarkable insights from some focal contributors, but I believe this doesn't have to be achieved by getting at each other's throat.

Did you just call me politically correct? That is a bizarre accusation, Eurotrash! You see, that wasn't politically correct, was it?
Quote:

By calling me ''eurotrash" you are reaching the next level of frustration - first you called me racist (the most obvious), then you welcomed the idea of closing the discussion, and now your last resort is personal insults.
Spieler, I take that back.

Including yours as regards being a notable contributor to this thread! I forgot to mention you as such in my post #489 above.

Agreed, personal attacks and use of abusive terms are wholly unnecessary.

Definitely one of my favorite popcorn threads. It has it all, Regional comparisons, insults, racist, all-trolly goodness and a lovestory to boot!

@ all - I think we need to do a swap. You guys come live in Asia for five years and I'll go back to Europe. Five years down the line (if you can mentally withstand that amount of time out in PRC, Thailand or Singapore) we'll talk again. And then we'll see who's "racist."
