I think I've already spoken about this at length. By the way no locals know how to serve tea or arrange flowers. Those courses are taken by expats aspiring to enter Exoticstan.

I'm not yet in need of learning the intricacies of the Zurich recycling system.

You're going to need some serious rehabilitation and discipline when you get here. I think you might look good in one of these. What do you think? Send your sizes, we'll have one cut to order.

Globalization exists in the west, among expats and among the elite. There is still a lot of difference in the world. And outside of the west a woman marries into a man's culture.
Globalisation doesn't mean uniformity. Neither does it mean (solely) Westernisation. Yes, there are 'still' lots of differences in the world and yes, not all differences will be gone (or even should go) but many differences are going at varied pace in different parts of the world.

Well if you **** half as good as you argue / debate online... Only the lord can help the poor soul on the receiving end!
Are you referring to my views? Or are you referring to my style? At law school I was invited to make the closing speech for the prosecution because I'm such an amazing bitch at debate.

Funny you say that... Because after the locally organised Chilbis, the local recycling centre a.k.a Íkihof is the next likely place where the locals meet their partners...

So you might reconsider

Actually globalization is westernization. Otherwise what do you call Starbucks anud McDonalds? Don't worry though this era will come to an end. The Chinese unlike the Americans are not interested in convincing others to aspire to become one of them. There will be no coke and Levi jeans and the land where any Man can make it. Anyway, that's already gone in the US in any case. The Chinese are not interested in culturally converting others.

well you are not bad... But somehow not convincing enough with the debate. After following the thread and enjoying it fully for various contributions made by many out here, if I had to chose my lawyer, I had rather go for Sudeepta

Controversial choices are only suitable for people with character.

That does not necessarily mean ALL people making controversial choices are definitely people with character OR people not making controversial choices are NOT people with characters

Re: London vs Zurich

Some people just do not feel the necessity to broadcast there opinion.

I understand you don't like it when your prejudiced view about your debating capability is challenged. But trust me, I meant when i said you are not bad unless this thread would not have become a 34 page one.

But you agree Sudeepta is getting more trendy in debate don't you

And if I had to hire a lawyer, I had go for the one, who I believe will win the case for me.

Re: London vs Zurich

I have no problem taking on the world alone and as I've already pointed out the only reason I aired my views was because I was challenged on why dating in Singapore is awful for western women. One thing led to another and everyone in this forum was happy to water the garden as previously mentioned.

I don't think Sudeepta is getting more trendy in debate, I think she already is trendy.

Tip on hiring a lawyer: make sure you both agree on what the case is.

One is a coffee shop , the other a fast food centre (center for the American reader). We have thousands of them on the Indian streets and highways (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhaba). If this is what typifies Globalisation then shows up rather poorly, doesn't it? I am sure not all Westerners view it the same way though.

The coke and the jeans will get replaced by better drinks and better garments and that is one of the motivations of Globalisation. Could they be introduced by the Chinese? Why not? Silk was, chow mein was.

I'm sure it's very possible that you are intelligent and successful in your profession.

However a true mark of intellectual intelligence has to do with one's ability to express their ideas and opinions in a manner relevant to the medium and the audience.

In terms of this thread, you've failed miserably.

I get the sense OG led a pretty insulated life in Europe, only to have her eyes open to a rude awakening in Singapore. But shouldn't university have prepared her for that? OG, which school did you go to? We'll make sure to avoid it.
