Any RC flyers in the Basel area?

After about 10 years I'm thinking about getting back into flying model airplanes. As the technology has moved on by leaps and bounds in the last decade, I'm probably going to stick to electric as I can't be bothered with the mess and maintenance required for a gasser.

So can anyone recommend a friendly, laid back flying club in or around the Basel area (or neighbouring AG)? Ideally somewhere not to cliquey, and with younger flyers (like me )

Re: Any RC flyers in the Basel area?

There's a club who meet near us (they meet above Hirzel) but that's too far away for you.

They only appear to meet on Saturdays as it's obviously too far to walk the 100 metres from their cars on a Sunday when they're not allowed to park at the launch site as it's a closed road then.

There you go. You got a reply!

Re: Any RC flyers in the Basel area?

Next question, does anyone know of a suitable bit of common land in the BS/BL/AG area where I can take my plane up?

P.S
I tried a number of RC flying clubs in my area and of the two that replied, both wanted me to come down for an interview, test flight and have additional RC liability insurance. Given that I've got a very light (foam) electric flyer this does seem extreme, and I can imagine that once I get to the flying site there will a list of dos and don'ts (primarily designed for internal combustion fuel planes) as long as my arm and in German

Too much aggro for what is essentially meant to be a pleasant hobby, so if anyone knows of a park or a bit of wide open space where I can fly about in peace please let me know.

Thanks

RC is so 90s. Everyone's into drones now. Pick up one of those and spy on people sunbathing.

Oh, I don't know...
Each to their own I guess, but for me this is the pinnacle of RC flying.
