Just to put this into context: Are you talking about American size women in Switzerland?

Not to sound like an asshole..Im taken but dating in Switzerland if you are American, take care of yourself(gym/hygiene/clothing) and look decent will be on easy mode in Zürich.

Americans tend to have better teeth than Europeans, but people get used
To the cleaner Look.
I didn't want to rub it in either, but the Swiss are not really much different from anybody else. Foreigners here have trouble because they tend be ill at ease, not knowing how to speak, and have a lot trouble just being themselves. This is easy to smell, and the lack of confidence is a turn off. In fact, a large proportion of Swiss prefer foreigners. But I guess this is something realized in due course, in the fullness of time.

In my experience do Swiss have easily as much trouble just being themselves... I found the expats in Zurich actually far more outgoing than an average Swiss - I guess that's because the expats are by definition not the average of their home culture, but the ones willing to take the risk to get up and go abroad...

Rubbish, Phos. Most Swiss I meet when out and about are by bar more reserved conservative than most expats I know. Expats are generally much quicker and comfortable talking to strangers, probably because they are so used to doing it as a matter of course to get to know people when they arrive here.

May be in the way of approach. The Swiss don't respond well to frontal assaults. They tend to clam up, as it would otherwise leave them out of their comfort zone. I'm not sure trying too hard or making it too obvious works well in general. You have to spend a considerable amount of time in parity until they realize whether or not they like you.

Re: Date in Zurich

My experience, post-divorce...

It's not difficult to find a companion for an evening (no, not the paid kind) in Zurich; it's even relatively easy to find a friend with benefits, especially among the expats here. Anything more than this, and it becomes much, much more difficult and likely even more difficult than many other places I've been. The transitory nature of many of the people here make them more likely to be lonely, which opens up the former two possibilities I've mentioned but closes the door on the third. It is a common assumption that you (the expat) will be leaving again in some period of time (months, years), so why invest emotion into something serious? Or other expats just assume the same about themselves, and in both cases are afraid of having to make a decision that could leave them dependent on another person (expats are very independent people, IME).

And Swiss women, well, they're just too complicated anyway.
