Crime in London is statistically insignificant. There is no crime in Switzerland at all because it costs 700 CHF to call the cops.
London is a crime ridden shithole. Everybody knows that, whatever "statistics" say.

That's why they had to have the Krays, to bring some order to the criminal scum.

If you ever have a broken umbrella which you want to get rid of, leave it in the umbrella stand at the front of the store. It will disappear.
What a genius

Of course it will. Not by magic though, but because the salespeople will do your job and throw it away.

You read what you wanted to read.

We have an old saying: when a stupid man (i.e. "Chüderwaltsch") drops a stone in the water not even ten wise men could bring it out. (the Armenians have it with 40 wise men, I guess they're even more pessimistic )
Well, this pretty much sums up this thread.

Its true, if you don't count the Krays as criminals then they did wonders to eliminate criminals. But where you really want to go is Birmingham. Not a no-go area because of Muslims but because of brums. Apparently they've stopped using knives and are holding mugged southerners using their accents.

It's pretty sad to read comments like that, when all I was doing was what I have always done without any problems at all. Why should I be made to feel guilty for still trusting that people are generally decent here, as this has been my experience since moving here (and throughout my life visiting here)?
Spot the difference between "generally" and "universally".

Thirty or forty people may have walked past your shopping that day (in fact many hundreds of people, including all the previous times you've done this) and every single one of them left it alone. One person finally didn't, and now your faith in humanity is somehow tested?

If you really trusted that all people, today, tomorrow and forever, would behave correctly with no one watching - then I am sorry, but your trust was misplaced and it was always going to be a matter of time.

Expect instead that most people, most of the time will behave decently - and you'll be right. Take reasonable precautions and also have reasonable trust. The two aren't opposites.

What rubbish. Everyone knows that Switzerland is a special space where the laws of physics don't apply, where there is no crime at all and lots of crime from immigrants and low taxes but mandatory charges for motorway use, healthcare and the ability to watch TV in Romansch. Where you can live rich and complain about standard of living in your home country if you stop eating out, live in a village and buy your groceries in a foreign country. A magical place where you can learn German, French and Italian and still not speak the local language. We just need to get rid of all the immigrants and all the children and grandchildren of immigrants so Switzerland can be perfect again.

Give Transylvania back and we'll forget all about it.

Deal?

Transsylvania had to go back to Hungary, possibly together with the Karpato-Ukraine, so that for Britain there is only RURITANIA

Well then the inevitable happened, and yes if you leave your possessions unattended in a public place to be stolen, then report the said crime and asking the police and security to review the CCTV, you are wasting their time and resources. Mind you the Police in Switzerland seem to have enough time on their hands busting people for the slightest traffic indiscretion, so I say do it, get them to spend hours wasting time trying to catch that "Auslander" scum.

Tobias M comes from London, which probably explains her cynicism.

London is populated almost entirely by criminal scum.

Fortunately, Switzerland isn't.

According to internationally available statistics, crime in London is below British average. Which means that the British province (St Mary Mead for example) is inhabited by criminal scum to 132 %

Well, I shop there at least twice a week and usually have had a bag or two that I left in the lobby area, where people leave their granny trolleys and umbrellas, and like I said, it's never been a problem. It's a small village, and not like I was in a big city. People here are generally honest people. I know nowhere is perfect and times have changed since I was a kid and my grandparents slept with their house unlocked and balcony doors open! I just never have never had an issue with leaving groceries in that area. I obviously would never have left really high-value shopping (like electricals or jewelry etc.).
I guess I was just unlucky, but I think I will leave any bags with customer service or the cashier in future. I know they are not obliged to look after stuff from rival stores (so I never liked to ask), but they know me quite well in there now, and the manager obviously knows about the theft.

I think you should relax, BUT had it happened to me I would still be full of MORDLUST a day later

Guys, are you serious? Transylvania belongs to people leaving there. Read a bit of history before making such statements.
There's really no hope for the world with such people listening to politicians, corporations and above all media industry today. Use your brain, read from various sources and then talk.

part of Austria-Hungary. As the Habsburger originally were Aargauer-Agglos, it of course could become a remote Swiss Canton
