Re: Anti female or anti English

Oh my! it maybe a little late but i just read this post and from experience,my candid opinion is..
No, i doubt the coach is anti-female or anti-English..
I think this is a simple case of ''Hallenturnier'' football games and how they work.. in a game of eleven minutes usually substitutions are very normal and usually at 7mins (i laughed so hard as this happened to me just last weekend playing with 15 available team-mates for a 5-a-side game).
As adults, usually we make the swaps ourselves to let everyone get some play in,for kids the coach probably has to do this.

My recommendations
1.Be careful with all the ''Anti-Me'' conclusions you jump to, whatever vibes you are giving out you would obviously attract.

2.Perhaps you are also a bit sensitive about your girl playing on the boys team, maybe you can find her a girls team to play on to avoid feeling targeted when things like this happen.

3.Let your daughter just have fun

ps: we came in second in the turnier of over 20 teams, hehe!

Would that be rugby league or rugby union?

Au contraire, there are plenty of girls who play rugby and there are women's rugby teams around too. There have been for many years.
Exactly, and I know a few Swiss girls who play rugby, one even played for the Swiss national team in an International tournament.

I don't know what they do to the opposition, but they frighten the hell out of me (to mis-quote the Duke of wellington)

Soccer still SUCKS!

My worst nightmare was that one of my kids would take it up, and I'd have to go watch that crap!

Thankfully, they prefer motorcycles.

Without being over PC, using the word Chinese and the description really smacks of total insensitivity, really (Down Syndrome?) - and in view of the post, even more so.

I'm not even going to start about the horrifying discrimination people sometimes face because they actually have physical or mental disabilities. Some people can turn truly despicable as soon as one is in a wheelchair, has amputated limbs, etc. etc. I believe that's where Odile is coming from.
It's times like this when I realise some EF'ers really are bordering on hysterically irrational.

The OP may be an ignorant chav, but pretty sure he wasn't intending to slander disabled kids, merely trying to highlight an ethnic/physical situation that in his cosy-sized mind he thought would be hyper-noticeable.

And that will really help them later on, when dealing with rejections because they're not good enough for something... and must improve or adjust their expectations if they want to have a chance in a certain field...
Not all parents think like this, fortunately.
You mean not all parents ACT upon it

I pride myself in not doing so, and in teaching my kids that they won't always get what they want, and can't be the best at everything. Doesn't mean I don't secretly want for them never to feel disappointment

Played at Uni. Yes, it is .

I would also just like to say that my (bilingual English/French) daughter is captain of her team. Probably because she is the gobbiest of the lot, but that's beside the point.
This adds absolutely nothing to the thread, but I wanted to get my oar in before the thread is closed and as a way to announce my return to EF after a week in Saas Fee.

My 5 year old grand-daughter has been playing rugby for 2 years...(in UK) she is the cutest blondie blue-eyes ever- but golly she is fast and can outwit any of the bigger boys. A good little skier too- last week she was a 5 year old in a group of 12-14 years old in ski lessons (yeah- granny is boosting- as grannies do - perhaps the only thing worse than an over-keen ballet or football mum or dad, is a skiing or rugby granny or grandad!).

Toontoon- do you not read posts before commenting? English is not my mother-tongue- and when I grew up, with a different language, Down Syndrome children were called 'Chinese'- so, for me, the link came quite naturally (I did say later that I was sure it was not your intention).
