coping with pollen: air purifier or any other method?

I'm starting to feel the effects of allergy season and want to know what to do about it. At the moment, it's mainly affecting my breathing (asthma). Has anyone had good experience with an air purifier? (If so, which one?) Should I avoid opening the windows to "air out" the apartment? Things I am going to try are
-keeping my "outdoor" clothes out of the bedroom
-nasal irrigation
-washing my hair every night

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated!

Speaking from experience I'd advise you to invest in a good room air purifier.

For a globe trotter like me who also suffers from asthma attacks it gets very difficult whenever I move to a new place. In addition too my meds I always carry my air purifier along. Its my coping mechanism. The one I use is this Clair BF2025 room air purifier which my allergy specialist back in the states recommended.I guess you can order it online from their website.
