Where Can I Find 'Petite' Sized Clothing?

I'm short in stature (approx 5'2" or 158cm) and leg length is only about 27" inside leg.

I can't find any jeans or trousers at all which would fit a shortie like me! Tops aren't too difficult as I can roll up the sleeves and I don't think I've ever seen a 'Petite' section in any shops in Switzerland, but maybe I'm not looking in the right places?

The kind of clothing brands I tend to wear would typically be (for example) - US stores such as Ann Taylor/Ann Taylor Loft, Anthropologie and from the petite ranges if there is a sale on eg. DKNY, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Max & Co. etc. at department stores such as Macys, Nordstrom, Lord & Taylor or from Century 21 and TK Maxx/Marshalls.

If I'm in the UK I tend to buy from the petite ranges at Next or Dorothy Perkins and Debenhams - if I'm in London I'll also check out Selfridges and John Lewis.

I have only been able to buy tops (oh, and one dress) here in Switzerland and I do like Tom Tailor and Desigual and Zara (yes the last two are Spanish brands and also in New York City and London). I don't really like the idea of buying standard length trousers or jeans and then having to chop off many inches/cms as the cut would then be all wrong.

Willing to travel over the border to Germany or France if anyone has good suggestions!

I know that Esprit has different sizes with trousers. They are not called anything Special I think just S for short. See here for an example http://www.espritshop.ch/damen-hosen (Länge 30 / 32 / 34). Also other brands offer that. But again I don't think they a Special Name or Special section they are just shorter H&M does so as well I believe.

Have you actually tried on any of the clothes here? Because the cut is much smaller and tailored. You might be surprised at how well they fit you. As far as skinny jeans, just roll them up above your bottines or your Chuck Taylors and you will be at the height of fashion.

For a true petite aka <160cm or 5'2", a 30" leg is miles too long in the legs and often the crotch. Standard sized dresses are often too long in the bodice - shoulders and waist don't land where they should and forget a wrap-dress unless one has the bust to hold it in place...

Banana Republic and Gap both do petite sizes (many more styles online than in stores in UK), but if one likes the Banana Republic "look" (not sure I do, a tad formulaic tidy office look for me) the shop in London on Regent St across from Liberty has an entire floor devoted to petites. Sometimes there is a find in the sale rails.

Liberty is my favourite - can do lots of looking there and leave with a token purchase in a lovely lilac bag.

Some shops offer tailoring serves for free or for a fee. If the cut is right for your body, they even alter the sleeves for you.

We're about the same height. Try:

H&M teens section.

Tally Weil has petite sizes too.

Zara TRF has a few petite selections.

Have you tried Zara, H&M, Esprit, Tom Tailor? (I'm not very tall myself and always managed to find something there)

Re: Where Can I Find 'Petite' Sized Clothing?

Thank you to everyone for all of your suggestions.

I'm grateful for the link to minuet-petite; I now refuse to order items from overseas to be delivered here as I had to pay a hefty customs charge for a gift which was sent to me (it sure took the shine off the gift... ) However, I guess I could order some things to be delivered to my mum in England and she can keep them until the next time we see each other.

PS. Tom Tailor doesn't have trousers in a short length (certainly not in Zugerland or Manor in Zug); I did ask an assistant but I was told that they don't have them.

I'm afraid that I have to avoid the 'teen' and 'kids' sections in stores....I may be petite in height but I'm not super-skinny - I have a womanly/hourglass shape, unfortunately!

Many teenaged girls (and boys) do not fit into the general trend towards skinny everything - and then decide there is something wrong with their shape, not the manufacturer's patterns...

Why unfortunately...Congrats!!!

I have similar quest to do, it is not easy to find relatively tall size but skinny, it is a pain in the butt.

With clothes, though - as much as with anything "non standard" here, you have to play it by ear, buy when you see something. You can find some stuff here but short and not skinny - the best is Italy! Generally shorter than here. And the girls are not as thin as here. I find size wise ok-ish stuff in France, not short but thin, but the fairy, overly decorated style is not me. Etam, Naf Naf are chic and might have some things in shorter version, otherwise Topshop I saw does petite size - just not sure if it is is your style, a bit trash. Kid depts work for leggins and jeans for me, 170, but other things tend to be a bit...infantile.

So - I'd say, look around in Italy, there are trains comfortably taking Swiss travellers straight to the city centers.

Or - do like me, get some odd thing here and there, the rest is diy tailoring, knitting, altering and sewing.

You're right. It's terrible. Then again I was looking at the (over the top) report this morning on the Alexander McQueen (tribute) exhibition at the V&A which was launched last night with many top models in attendance. Some of the models looked skeletal and Victoria Beckham is just so rail-thin, she looks so unhealthy - possibly has an eating disorder - and I hope she isn't a role-model for young women (she just looked very unhappy/miserable and may be unwell)
