Hi Folks,

Can anyone recommend any good gyms and yoga studios offering English Led Classes in St Gallen please?

Also a little advise on the best part of the city to live in, in terms of transport, shopping, noise etc etc.... we will be house hunting over the next couple of months so any tips greatly received!

Anyone else got any good tips on the yoga front in St Gallen or do English Led classes not exist here?

Also myself and my fiance are looking into joining Einstein Fitness Park Gym, any thoughts on this place greatly received!

Thanks in advance :-)

Hi!

It is rather difficult to find yoga classes in English in St. Gallen...
However, in Sundari Yoga (www.sundari-yoga.com) the teachers can speak English (I am doing my Yoga Teacher Training there) plus Chiara Castellan and Katchie Ananda are frequently invited for workshop in English.
Otherwise you can wait until I get my Yoga certificate in October :-D

For the best area where to live in, it really depends on what you are looking for.. Any part is generally well connected to the city center, where most of the shops are. I live in Riethüsli and this area (and also St. Georgen) are pretty quiet, with nice views and close to nature.
Hopes this helps!

Dear "RakenAngel",

Thanks for the tips, I am actually myself a certified yoga instructor but am looking for advanced yoga classes in English. This is proving very difficult in St Gallen. I practice and teach in the Zurich area, where there are alot of options!!!!

We pref want to be central in St Gallen as my hubby will be working in Roterplatz, we veiwed a couple apartments around the Linsebuhlstrasse but got a distinct feeling that this was the "red light district" of St Gallen?! LOL

Maybe we should get together in August, when my hubby and I move as we obv both have a joint love of yoga :-)

Yes, I totally agree: the yoga situation in St. Gallen is completely different to Zurich, especially if you are looking for advanced classes.

Linsebuhlstrasse! Ugh! I lived close to Linsebuhlstrasse when I first moved to St. Gallen but I didn't really like it: first because it looks like the "red light district", as you already noticed, then it's quite noisy at night (especially from Friday to Sunday), the prices are quite high (as it's central) and the view is not that nice (or at least, for my taste). The good thing is that it's rather close to Marktplatz.

Roterplatz is well connected with every area, as it's quite close to the train (and bus) station, so you can really look for apartments everywhere in St. Gallen. I'm sure you'll find a lovely location :-)

Yes, absolutely, we should definitely hang out when you've moved! Where are you teaching yoga in Zurich? I'm curious to attend one of your lecture (plus I should assist a couple of yoga classes by different instructors and write a brief summary to get my certificate, so if it's fine for you I could write a report on a class of yours).

Cheers,
Chiara
