Thinking of moving to Zurich

Hi there,

I've been thinking of moving to Zurich for a new job (I'm in my late 20s, female and relocating on my own). I've spent a couple of days in the city however it's hard to grey a feel for the place in a short time period

For those that have moved from London, can you tell me how you got on, specifically is it easy to make friends (only concern as I come over in my own)

I adore the bright lights of East London- does Zurich have a good night life and plenty to do?

Thanks

Re: Thinking of moving to Zurich

First off, Zurich is a village compared to London but it does have a busy night life, loads of clubs and bars. Going out will be more expensive than London but it is much safer.

It's difficult to make close friends with the locals unless you have been here and known them for a few years but personally, I have more friends now than I ever had in the UK. There's a great FB group for people younger than me wanting to socialise in Zurich called Zurich People Alive and it's very busy with both day and night events. I suggest you join that and post an intro.

...and of course, TakingZurich, if you're planning on moving to Zurich, start learning German immediately. Everything in my process of settling in got better, the more German I could understand and speak, read and write.
