wrong Kanton

Hi, I was here a while back , and left ...I am back again. I have been living here now for 9 years , and thought things would be easier by now . Anyone else feel this way. cant find my question mark on keyboard also ...grr
I live in a kanton that is very special . The women here are 2nd class citizens, treated like slaves, and are to obey their husbands. Fortunatly I have visited enough Kantons to realize that its just my Kanton and living in a remote village . Its beautiful here , but not a place for a strong woman.Anyone else feel this way questionmark....if so it would be nice to meet a friend.

I am considering moving back to CH. Which canton is this great place you are talking about?

The solution is quite simple. Move to another canton (where you believe things will be better).

If, on the other hand, you are married and your husband doesn't want to move, then rebel against the system! Show them what a strong woman you are! Disobey your husband!...

... and move to another canton (where you believe things will be better).

By the way, out of interest, what is a "cheffine"?

Well, if you personally are letting your husband treat you like a slave it's your own fault.
Stand up for yourself, just because you think the women around you accept it surely doesn't mean that you have to....
or are you really trying to ask for help because you are in a bad relationship and don't know what to do about it?

So the same canton as Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, the well-known meek and submissive female politician?

OK, I get you now.

Re: wrong Kanton

I see where you're coming from. Typical marriage in Graubünden: The husband makes the big decisions, the wife makes the small ones.

Big decisions: Should Switzerland terminate the bilateral treaties with the EU? Should Graubünden file another application for Olympic Winter Games? Should Obama use nuclear weapons against IS?

Small decisions: Is it time to replace our old car? Should we spend our vacation in Austria or in the Caribbean? Shall we tear down the former hay shack and build a new garage instead?

Only 9 years searching for that elusive question mark and complaining already. You're clearly an impatient type.

If she's allowed to make what you have as small decisions I'd say she's already being allowed a say. Car = mens domain. Holidays = men choose where, ladies do the packing & fight to get kids fed & dressed while he screams it won't all fit in the car. Hay shack + garage = his get away from it all area.
She may be able to decide how many kilos of Swiss cheese to buy for the fondue, which colour pansies or begonias to plant and which shower gel flower she wants to smell of this week (as long as it is x10 cumulus points).

Is that the norm in Geneva then?

Re: wrong Kanton

small decisions are deciding what flowers to plant. I am married to a Bundner Oberlander ... most of you wont know what that is , for those of you who do , I am sure you understand. Women stay in the kitchen, they make no decisions at all except what to cook for dinner. this all came to a suprise to me once I moved here. new computer , new key pad @ button is Q button on some sites and alt 2 on others. Question mark is not where it appears on my keyboard ...if you would like to help instead of bully it would be nice..... Chef de Service ...management .anyone out there living in a remote Romanish village , would be nice to hear from you.

Re: wrong Kanton

If there is a Kanton where it's illegal for women to:
- Play with the settings on the TV and blame the dog.
- Adjust the seat/mirrors in the car and not put them back
- squeeze the toothpaste tube in the middle.

and most important leave
- Leave the toilet seat down,

I'll move there

thank you. My husband and I work together... He told me that he is my boss and I am to respect and obey him . working together as a team was not an option . communication means turn your back and walk out of room. I know there must be other women out there in the same situation. If I leave now , my pass gets taken away and he stops paying me. I work 75 to 80 hours a week during the winter months .

I feel for you- but don't quite get it. Did you not know your husband before you married him- or did you live abroad before, where he behaved totally differently, and then changed when you moved here?

I dated him for 2 years before I moved here. he was very different. I have tried to get some information on my rights in Graubünden and in Zurich at the FrauenZentrum...no luck

I hear that this is not uncommon...anyone else out there
