Krippe price increased by 600chf/month

Hi,
We received a letter from our krippe that they are increasing monthly price by 600chf/month from May2015. That means that they have informed us just one month in advance. This is really ridiculas. On my contract the price mentioned is the old one.
Are they allowed to increase the price just on one month notice?
Also they say if you want to leave the krippe them notice period is 3 months. This seem to be legally incorrect as they can say this only on the old contract price.
Is there a department of stadt zurich whom we can contact?

Ouch, that is a lot. But what does your contract say about fee changes- it should be there somewhere.

Now is this a private of Municipal Krippe? And has the price gone up for all parents- and has it gone up for you because it is proportional to your join income, and your income has gone up (perhaps 1 parent having recently gone back to work, increased hours or had a big pay rise). In many areas, the price paid is dependent on income, and the rest subsidised one way or another (Here by the Gemeinde/Commune and an employers' fund).

If you are not sure about the German, copy here (with names and private info deleted of course).

Re: Krippe price increased by 600chf/month

Hi,
No, our income has not increased.
They sent a letter that the costs for krippe are going up and they have to increase the price.
This price rise is only for private places and not for Subventionen places.
My contract has nothing written regarding price rise.

Is there a social department office where we can go and check?
At least we should be allowed to leave the krippe on one months notice as we do not agree to price rise.

They need to give you three month notice unless stated something else in contract.

Most probably, yes. Both for employment contracts and apartment rent contracts, unequal notice periods are illegal, the longer period applies to both parties. I would expect for this to be a general principle.

@Keepsmiling

you could try the social service funded by the state churches (Catholic and Reformed), which offers pragmatic advice on social matters and questions of budget and usual practice/rules within Switzerland.

http://www.ksdz.ch/index.php?id=4
Kirchlicher Sozialdienst

Although they are not lawyers, nor can they be authorities on your particular question, I think they might know - or find out - to which government department you could turn. Perhaps they would make some of the enquiries for you, or help you write the right letters, etc. This service is free for anyone, irrespective of personal religious or church affiliation, or the absence thereof.
