Easter - opening hours in Zug

Does anyone know in general what the shopping hours are over Easter in Zug. Are shops open on Good Friday or Easter Monday or are they just open on Saturday? First Easter here so not sure what happens. Thanks

Re: Easter - opening hours in Zug

They're only open on Saturday I believe.
Good Friday is treated like a Sunday and I think everything will be closed on Monday too although it is not an officially recognised holiday.

The details for Zug holidays are here.

http://www.feiertagskalender.ch/inde...=en&hidepast=1

Everything is closed on both Friday and Monday here in Neuchâtel and the shops close earlier on the day before a holiday so Thursday ( which is normally late night opening) everything will close at 6pm.

Re: Easter - opening hours in Zug

Probably - as normally is the case almost everywhere - shops are closed on Friday, Sunday and Monday with regular or shortened opening hours on Thursday and Saturday. The stores which most likely will be open on Friday, Sunday and Monday are those which are normally open on Sundays and holidays - shops in train stations and airports.

In Zürich and Schaffhausen, Easter Monday IS official, and I think this also applies to Zug , but Saturday of course open

No it doesn't!
The link I provided shows that it isn't an officially recognised holiday in Zug but that doesn't mean that anything will be open. It is most likely that all the shops (except station shops, service stations etc) will be closed on Monday too as they are in other cantons where it is a non official holiday. ( like Neuchâtel)
Tourist shops will also probably be open.

Re: Easter - opening hours in Zug

Only New Years Day, Ascension Day and Xmas are public holidays by federal law. All others are either by kantonal law, or treated as one but not mandated by kantonal law (such as Easter Monday in Zug), or just an ordinary day.

Karfreitag/GoodFriday in most places is on the same Level as Ascension, but EasterMonday just as 2nd January is a kind of Add-On. BOTH in the 1950ies and 60ies were not existing in many places

Re: Easter - opening hours in Zug

Zugerland shopping center usually has the longest opening times except for the shops in the train station. According to their website their Easter hours are:

Easter

Wednesday 01.04.2015 09.00 - 21.00
Thursday 02.04.2015 09.00 - 19.00
Friday 03.04.2015 closed
Saturday 04.04.2015 07.00 - 17.00
Monday 06.04.2015 closed

and of course, closed Easter Sunday....
