Is my boss a racist?

I was appalled when I head what my boss said in a meeting at work. Talking about performance of a coworker he said: That's all he can achieve. We cannot expect anything more from him. And then he said and I am quoting "Klammer auf, XXXisch, Klammer zu", referring to one of European nationalities. (not my nationality). For those who don't speak German it literally means: left parenthesis, That particular nationality, right parenthesis.
It's not the first time I am hearing such statements from him (even about my own nationality) but this time it was somehow different because I felt he was not kidding at all and he actually thinks so and the company is enabling him to making such remarks.
Could I do anything about it? Can he be sued? There were other people in that meeting but I doubt anybody would dare say anything.

To which nationality was your boss referring?

Some stereotypes are entirely justified.

Although irrelevant I forgot to mention he's a foreigner himself.

I don't see how that would help. Aren't we all equal?

I imagine he's talking about the French. Elaborate ? I mean, really, how long have we got here ? You could easily do a couple of compendiums on it.

Funny crowd here!
Making fun is something but making statements like that in an official meeting is something else. I am not a lawyer but I'd actually think and hope such remarks could cost him his job.

You want someone to lose his livelihood, perhaps putting his family through great hardship, just because he talked bollocks in a meeting?

Nice.

Superhero - what you want to do is put on an extra pair of aluminum underwear under your leotard and toughen the f**k up. Why go fight someone else's fight?

We can all make stupid comments, luckily you're not always there to police the environment and strive for purity in the workplace.

He has fired people for less than that and everybody is accountable for their actions.

Yes, but some of us are more equal than others (to paraphrase the late Eric Blair).
