Noise complaints?

Does anyone know, what is the general procedure here for noise complaints?
My upstairs neighbours are playing ridiculous bass, the shaking in my flat is driving me absolutely insane.
I don't speak French so communication with them directly is not particularly possible. I would probably mess it up even if I could.

Re: Noise complaints?

They should understand enough english to get your point, especially if you accompany your simple sentences with hand gestures. So go upstairs and complain. If they don't turn it down then mention it to your landlord. Also, put a note (in English; they can get it translated) on their door.

If they do it again and it's late at night then try ringing your landlord or even the police.

Re: Noise complaints?

It must be disappointing for you. I guess that you chose your location, given as "middle of lake geneva", on the grounds that it would be a tranquil place. Is it on the Swiss or French side of the line ?

Tom
It was day time hours when it was really at its worst, so probably nothing that can be done?
Though people should still have some decency.

It continued until 2am though, albeit slightly less shakey and thankfully I had a few pints in me so could sleep.
