Recycling

I wanted to throw away some stuff today and went to the recycling center but they want a voucher. I dont know if I received a voucher earlier this year or if I have thrown it away. Does anyone know if there is a possibility to obtain recycling vouchers from anywhere?

Re: Recycling

Normally you would buy them at your gemeinde, where you live.

Oh, too expensive, perhaps I can ask someone at work if they have. Thank you!

Re: Recycling

If your stuff is in good order, why not offer them for free here, or at work- against collection?

Re: Recycling

Four "trash coupons" were sent to Zurich residents in December. It is possible to purchase individual ones for CHF 30 each, allowing disposal of up to 100 kg of trash. The disposal of household appliances is gratis:

Re: Recycling

Thank you! Actually what I want to throw away is a big old blanket and it does not fit in the "textile bag". It seems a waste of money to purchase a whole coupon for that..I wish I could give it away but it is not in a good condition.. Compared to Sweden I find the Zurich recycling system very complicated...

Re: Recycling

Taking about Sweden..LOL
H&M recycles WHATEVER textile, including old and broken socks.
You can save a lot if you pack the blanket in whatever plastic bag and make one way to H&M.
They will give you a coupon that you can use it or give it away to another family member who is buying from H&M.
So, Sweden is best, indeed!

Re: Recycling

Put the blanket in a Zürisack, that's it. It is not forbidden to put everything you want away with into a Zürisack, it only has to fit in. It might not be the best solution for batteries and old atomic bombshells, but an old blanket will not be a problem anyway. It'll burn happily in Hagenholz and provide some warm water for the needy.

Re: Recycling

Can someone please tell me why i am not allowed to use a standard balck bag from Coop to throw away my rubbish.
It is insane that I have to pay over 20 CHF for a roll of bags....
The colour of the platic on the new bags is grey and not black...
It is completely insane

Bizarrely i moved from Valais to Schwyz and there are no restrictions on which bags you use to throw away your rubbish....

After owning a property in Swiss for 10 years i still discover things that make me go

Re: Recycling

because you pay taxes with that special bag. It is in your own hands how much rubbish you produce, so you pay accordingly. It is quite simple.

You've lived here 10 years and don't yet get that fees (taxes) are applied based on individual consumption rather than through a universal tax...?

Re: Recycling

and are you sure you don't need stickers for your bags in SZ?
My trash is flat-rate here, any bag and 200 a year for the "service". SZ (Gemeinde March) was stickers and Zurich was of course Zurisaks - which I still need to get rather than dump my trash in Ticino when I visit.....the trashy tourist I am

Some towns and cantons have only just recently (or haven't yet at all) given in to that federally mandated idiocy.

Re: Recycling

Many Gemeindes also have a Hauptsammelstelle, which is like a big recycling depot and is normally for free, for example http://www.duebendorf.ch/de/verwaltu...object_id=2158 and will take items such as, Altmetall, Altpapier, Altöl (Speise- und Motorenöl), Alu- und Weissblech, Alu-Getränkedosen, Aluminium, Autopneus, Batterien, Elektro- und Elektronikgeräte, Glas, Grosselektrogeräte (Fernseher, Kochherd, Geschirrspüler ...) , Grubengut, Karton, Kork, Korkzapfen, Kühlgeräte, Leuchstoffröhren, Energiesparlampen, Nespresso-Kapseln, PET-Flaschen, Sperrgut, Textilien und Schuhe, Tierkadaver.

Batteries (from electronics) can be returned to the Migros or Coop, where they take the PET bottles.

Another option is 2x per year (usually May and October), a giant truck parks at the Erlenbach, ZH post office and accepts donations of pretty much anything that is still functioning or useable to help people in Romania. See link here, http://www.rubahil.ch/Sammlung.php

Well actually no... Because the canton i lived in before did not have such a scheme so i could happily throw as much waste in the bin, in whatever colour bag i liked and there was zero tax on the bag. I loved the 10 years of such a system...
I could even visit the centre for disposing large items and guess what... I didn't need to chop it up and put it in a certain coloured bag nor did i have to pay any money to drop off my waste ... And there was even a guy to remove the waste from the back of my car... And no there was no insane tax on the colour of a bag.

So feel free to groan away... In the zurich area we pay many taxes that are simply not levied in other cantons...

I completely understand how you feel. It absolutely drives me insane that trash is so expensive here. It's total rubbish!! I guess it is to encourage recycling instead of wastage and thats a great system. But in general I always recycled what I can even before coming here and as a student I feel so pissed and penalised by all these hidden costs.

Re: Recycling

I got a recycling voucher from a friend. Does anybody know if you drop at the recycling center fewer kilos do you get the rest back on another voucher? Or shall I wait to recycle everything at end of year?
