Ost Side Story not Westen Side Story?

I don't know German yet but wondering why the posters around the city for West Side Story the Musical is Ost Side Story and not Westen Side Story? Google Translate tells me Ost means East - doesn't seem to make sense?

Similar basic theme (Romeo and Juliet). New place. Zürich.
Run this through Google.

Re: Ost Side Story not Westen Side Story?

It is an alternative take I suspect :the posters show a young man in a ST Gallen football shirt ( Ost Schweiz ) and a young lady in an FCZ kit .
Clearly 2 tribes that are not meant to mix . But I am only guessing !!

A bit like some young lady who follows my team yearning for a Tractor boy !

Another implausible East Side Story ...

Now if it was a turkey well that would be a different matter ... Bootiful

I think that the ethnic demographics of NY have geographically relocated, since the piece was written.
