Re: Gym - one that isn't too expensive?

Hi! I use Luxor Sports Club - located near paradaplatz. It has free weights, cardio, classes, and lift machines. Great atmosphere. Nice staff, good hours. The membership fees are separated into 2 groups based on the hours your anticipate using the gym - off-peak times are less expensive (75/month approximately) and having full access at all times is only 30 more. They also provide personal training consultation at no additional cost. Trainers are always accessible in the facility.

There is a track and field area right at ZOO that is used for -- good spot to do any cardio or yoga etc.

That one is owned by the ASVZ.

My understanding is that the ASVZ offers paying membership for 500.- per year to any alumni of a Swiss or foreign university.

Although some of the guys at the counter deny it (for ex. Fluntern), their website states this quite clearly: http://portal.asvz.ethz.ch/english/Seiten/Alumni.aspx
But you can use the one at Sihlhölzli and Utogrund amongst others are open to the public. It may even be possible to run around on the "fastest track" - Letzigrund.
