Where can I donate food in Basel?

I have had a handful of friends leave Basel recently and they have all handed me big bags full of food that they couldn't take with them. Some items are opened (eg. spices) and others such as tinned food, boxes of rice etc. etc. are brand new.

Does anyone know if there is any place in Basel that would be able to make use of these items? I've tried doing a Google search, but only came up with an organisation that takes donations from businesses rather than individuals.

And yes, I can make use of some of the items, but I have so much and I'm sure there are people that may appreciate it more.

Thanks for any ideas

The M-Parc Migros has a shopping cart/trolley just inside the doors that is for food donations. That would probably be the easiest and quickest way to do good

Give them my MIL. She will take anything for free, but make you jump through hoops to do her a favor.

Re: Where can I donate food in Basel?

In Basel (and many other cities) there are Gassenküchen - they cook for people in need.
In Basel, you can give them food (if it is not beyond the expiry date); they prefer if you contact them first.

There also is "Tischlein deck dich" all over Switzerland.

I'm not sure if they accept a single donation like your stuff, but it's worth asking. I guess they might at least accept everything that is still sealed and not past the expiry date.
