I am not sure if you are paying 2k for a bicycle, that it is worth the hassle, stress and effort of riding it over the border, just to save a couple of hundred francs. Just declare it and see what happens.

A tax is what will happen. ..especially if the original cost is 2000 and competes with local manufacturing.

I would rather have the couple of hundred francs than have to give it to Swiss customs just because there is a silly import rule saying you ought to pay something.
If prices were in general, for example, fairer and lower here than they currently are, there wouldn't need to be such strict/low import limits which are evidently also in place partly to dissuade people from purchasing everything abroad all the time.

Presumably if the bike is worth so much then the buyer is a keen cyclist and far from stressful such a ride should be enjoyed, in essence it should be effortless!
