Re: Ikea or Conforama

Well I have had Ikea furniture for 17 years and never had a problem. Don't generalize!

Both stores are shocking. The IKEA stuff is tatty and doesn't have a great life span. Cheap and generic. Just look at the free ads section of this forum - 98% is IKEA stuff that people can't give away.

Comforama is even worse.

This may also have to do with the fact that people buy stuff cheap but still expect a good return when selling it on.

I've disposed of several item of furniture on this forum in the past and never had trouble finding takers. These were mostly Pfister items, some of them quite old. You've just got to be realistic about the value and honest in the description.

Re: Ikea or Conforama

Any idea how to get rid of the Conforama SMS "newsletter"? They won't stop sending texts and since there is no number attached there is no way to block it.

Re: Ikea or Conforama

Ikea is better than Conforama in quality and style (at least in my opinion).

Also Interio has interesting furniture, specially Sofas, good quality and if you catch them in sale maybe the price is not so far from Ikea. I have two sofas from Interio and I'm very happy with the quality.

IKEA quality varies a lot. Some products are of perfectly good quality while others are nothing but cheap crap.

Totally agree, in my experience their kitchen (pots and pans) are no good quality. Furniture on the other hand is well made.

Re: Ikea or Conforama

Conforama has an ugly costumer service. Impossible to contact them, and the lucky day they decide to answer to the phone they will talk with you only in german.

Your location says Zurich. What language would expect them to answer the phone in?

Pfister for really nice stuff. Micasa and Toptip for furniture, etc.

Conforama for rubbish.

People who expect to sell used (not necessarily old mind) Ikea furniture for more than a third from the original price must be very optimistic...we just gave away some Ikea furniture we didn't need anymore and was quite happy to see someone wanted it.
Btw, you can't compare Pfister with Ikea..even if your stuff was old.

Re: Ikea or Conforama

IKEA. the quality is very bad in Conforama. And its easier and cheaper to rent a truck in IKEA.
