Oh yes, the car must be parked straight as per my OH. Otherwise it is not good for the cars suspension.
When the kids were little, I deliberately parked in the middle of 2 parking spaces so I could get the buggy & brats out the car. I was always waiting for someone to comment but actually no one ever did. In Ikea they now have wider parent/kid parking spaces. Amazing.

Re: So brilliant, I had to share

at the kids sports carnival recently i got allocated to shot put. I rounded up the first measure and said " around 5.45" and heard cries of " Yoooo " "nein " and "was" when the parents rushed to check.
I swear I saw the woman was putting in millimeters on the score sheet. I was promptly put on the task of lining the kids up. They are 7.

5.45m is pretty good for 7 year olds, those kids are heavier than hey appear.

Actually, that's much too direct for an MFS. An MFS would have notified a moderator.

Re: So brilliant, I had to share

"You buy some "lard" (smoked bacon, meant to be eaten uncooked) at the farmer's market. It's good raw, but you want to try it fried. Your co-worker smells it from his office, suspects what you're up to, and bursts into the kitchen yelling "You cannot DO zis!" MFS"

So we went to some sports event and the whole family was craving some crappy sausages and fries so i go up and order some from the grumpy old man standing at the grill. "what kind of sauce do you want?" knowing we are all gonna share and we all prefer different ones or a random combination, i foolishly said, "all of them, just pop them on a separate plate so we can share." blank stare. me: "it's ok." grumpy old man: "you cannot DO zis!" me: "why not?" grumpy old man: "you cannot eat it like zis!" me, somewhere along the lines of "let that be my worry", (biting back a wtf is it of your concern). throughout the next few minutes of me waiting for the bleeping sausages and fries grumpy old man gives me the filthiest looks and mutters something about crazy people under his breath and shakes his head continuously. the other guy standing at the counter shakes his head at me as well, in perfect unison with grumpy old man. i smile and can't wait to relate this episode to the fam and our kiwi friends with us. freaking hilarious MFS

You gotta love IKEA for thinking of everything.

In the IKEA in Freiburg in Germany there is an elevator taking you up to the top floor. You're only supposed to go up that way, not come down, as you're supposed to walk through all the crap. Well, the OH and I were in a bit of a hurry and we only went ni to check some measurements. We weren't buying anything. So having checked what we wanted to check, we got on tbe elevator hoping it would take us down but there was an IR detector and it beeped at us and refused to clse the door until we worked out we could get out of the way of the beam by overturning a trolley and standing on it while grabbing the ceiling bars (this is what happens when engineers go shopping). So the elevator went back down and the doors opened and of course because we had delayed the elevator quite a bit by doing this there was a huge angry mob down there and of course when the door opened we were still standing on the trolley and we got no end to "you cannot do zis". We walked out of the store through the entrance doors and were halfway across the parking lot when a store security man came running after us and shouted "you cannot do zat" and insisted we come back inside the store and exit through the correct way. We told him where to stuff it and he went into a long rant about criminal Ausländers. This was all the funnier seeing he was actually brown skinned himself. So plenty of holier than thou complexes going on there.

Greg Zimmermann has no particular reputation at present
Re: So brilliant, I had to share

Hi Effers, this'll make you smile

Parking!

We've been having trouble with someone blocking the rear entrance to our restaurant, seems to think that because there's a bit of space he can park there.

Put a polite notice under his wipers. Ignored. Put an impolite notice under wipers. Ignored. Made a point of confronting him, politely. Parking continued. Made a point of confronting him impolitely. Parking continued.

So.... having picked up a lot of things in the Cash and Carry, and finding him blocking the entrance again, we blocked him in whilst (slowly) started unloading from our car. Out he comes ranting and fuming that he can't get out and then he calls the Police!!!

MFS

(outcome. Police came, explanations followed, then the Police told him to %ç&# off and never to park there again or he'll be hit in his wallet. Afterwards I found out that he'd been billed for wasting Mr Plods time)

'av great 'olidays y'all
