If people don't want to answer, that's fair enough. But I'd rather they don't hijack the thread and derail it, blocking others from answering, either.

And while we may not always like the answers, they do generally bare a vague connection to the question when we ask on the Internet.
No-one is blocking anyone form answering, it's a free discussion. Relax, and just let the thread take its course.

Grand so. Want to talk about the weather now? It's about as relevant as the direction you've taken the discussion.

My young cousins didn't seem to have any issues like you are describing when we watched them so I am afraid I can't identify with you there, but everyone is different I guess!
Some kids are emotionally tougher than others ... or ... Some kids have been desensitised to violence at far too young an age, other retain their innocence.

I prefer the second perspective, but ymmv.

I prefer this cooler weather.

I was thinking about taking my kids to Geneva to see Pixels in english. The age restriction is 10. My son is 9. Are they really that strict? I would hate to get there and be turned away.
I have seen this happen. Yes. And I think it's right. Either they have an age restriction and then they should ask for IDs or they don't. Same really as Nightclubs ;-). You could always call and ask but as said I have seen it happen in Zurich. Not sure about Geneva. Why don't you just wait for the DVD. Then you can stop and start at your own pace.

To the OP: as others have said. No one can tell you now what will happen with a movie for Christmas . Just wait and check the age restrictions. If you think Konstanz might be easier just go there. But be aware for both Zurich and Germany: the movie might well be in German especially during the day! Not sure if that's what you want.

You asked about age limits for children to watch a film. People discussed age limits around the film and the impact on children. You want to talk about the weather. I now want to talk about people with totally shit analogies.

Just wait for it to be released on DVD (or The Pirate Bay).

Shall we talk about Minions, seeing as it's a kids movie? Is that relevant enough? Still would be irrelevant to the OT from my perspective.

Who made you the judge of what is relevant or not to the original discussion?

Nonsense, Melusine took the discussion in that direction and I replied to her. Stop throwing your toys out of the pram over nothing...

Well, I wanted to understand how the ratings system worked in Switzerland; naturally until the ratings for this film come out, it's a little academic, but at least I can advise when that happens.

Thanks for your reply and to those who were helpful to my query rather than seeking to share their opinions on various other topics for the supposed enrichment of our lives.

Don't want to seem rude, but all this is a bit OT.
I do not see it as OT. It is a very subjective mater and that is reflected in the Swiss movie ratings. One town/canton says not suitable for under 12 year olds the other says all 6 and up are welcome.

Re: FSK: Swiss Film Rating for upcoming Star Wars Movie?

OP I understand you think things got a bit derailed, but imo at least Richdog and Mélusine were still discussing the Star Wars franchise and its appropriateness for children of certain ages. Is it 100% related to the Swiss film ratings? No, but is it related to the movie you want to take your son to? Yes.

Sorry, but you're the one who went seriously OT with this bit:

Quote:

...Whether Mélusine considers Star Wars appropriate for her/his son is entirely up to them. They can choose to have elective circumcision carried out on their child, or send them to military school, or be initiated into some evangelical cult or whatever too - it's none of our business...

Re: FSK: Swiss Film Rating for upcoming Star Wars Movie?

Hello. I'm going to be in Zurich on December 17-18, and would love to see the premiere of the new Star Wars movie while there. Does anyone know of an IMAX 3D theatre in Zurich that would show it? And would the movie be in English with subtitles or in German?

There is an IMAX but in Luzern, and as I have checked yesterday, it is not in the coming soon program (yet)

Even if not IMAX, that's ok. But do you know if most theaters show 1st run movies in English? I don't speak German, that's my concern.

It's easy enough to find original language movies with German or French subs, sometimes even both.
